My only concern with GPS is that sometimes using a Nav system it wont have enough satellites and think im in Mexico or something. I wonder if the 9500I has this problem?
Even with stronger signal, won't it still take at least 30 seconds after a cold start to acquire signal?

I'm also curious about your second point. When I haven't used my GPS for a while, it will take forever sometimes and then ask if I'm still in the state I was in prior. After I say no, it's able to find the location after some time, but not as long.

Anyway, I'm happy with my constant-on no waiting for signal especially since I park next to several strong false signals. I do cycle the power when I think about it, though.

Yes, but like you i use to just back out of my garage and go and not even give it the 30 seconds (would take 5-6 minutes). The stronger signal would allow me to go right out of the box and get a 30 sec acquisition with out waiting. I chose to wait the 30 seconds.

I've been trying out leaving my detector on overnight and lately I noticed it had powered down by the next morning. Is there an automatic shut-off feature when the battery voltage drops below a certain level? I think I remember some mentioning that.

My security dashcam is hooked up to a continous power source overnight that drains the volatge sometimes to below 11V.

Yes, it will tell you to power it down, and if you don’t it will.

This detector is too smart. It's ruining my evil plan to keep it working 24/7. My dashcam happens to be connected to a relay fuse that supposedly will turn off automatically when the battery power really becomes to low to start the car.

Looks like I'll just have to take a 30 second nap in the car to let the GPS signal acquire now before I take off. Otherwise, as I mentioned, it can take over 15 minutes while I drive through the city irregardless if I mount it in the middle of my windshield or the headliner.

To shave off a few seconds while I walk to the car, I'm going to now hardwire my 9500i to a fuse that turns on automatically when the car is unlocked.

Buy a remote start for your car and start it 30 seconds before you go out.
