ci software and 9500I

Anyone try the 9500ci software on a 9500I to see if it does anything? My guess is nothing, but it was just a thought.

You'd have to own a ci to do that right? They provide you an access code with the 9500ci that enables you to log on to the website?

The 9500ci software does not detect the 9500i at all.

Edit: Oops, wrong! I downloaded the latest camera location database for my 9500ci, but when I tried to flash my firmware with it, I got an error. So, I then downloaded the newest version of software, version 1.1, after which I was able to update my database. I also installed the latest 9500ci update, which had four parts to it.

Anyway, just to check, I then reconnected my 9500i and wouldn't you know it, this time it recognized it as a 9500ix, when just 30 minutes earlier, it didn't recognize it at all. The big green update buttons were both grayed out though. So, version 1.1 of the detector tools software is able to detect the 9500i, 9500ci and the 9500ix, but is not functional for my 9500i.

I'd expect that to be controlled by either the USB device/vendor ID or by a version string sent on connect... I'd expect the actual onboard interfacing protocols to be more or less identical. Anyway, further investigation is not EULA-friendly

This may be a lead in to the 9500I being able to be updated directly on Escorts sight. We may just need to buy the CD.

My guess is (if it even happens/works) it will be just to appease the old 9500i owners. It will only be able to change settings and update features, with no database.
