Default 9500CI Professional Installation Video Tutorial

    9500ci remote fans,

Like Radar Roy, I was fortunate to be selected by Escort to conduct a review of their new 9500ci remote.

But before I could review the 9500ci, I wanted to have it professionally installed as I didn't want to take chances with my Bimmer nor did I wantto attempt a schlock installation job, myself especially with the expensive-to-replace interior pieces of my vehicle.

During a two day installation in mid-May of 2008, I had the 9500ci professionally installed in my vehicle.

Given the complexities of a proper installation job, my installer allowed me to video their installation for the purposes of educating other professional installers who may be new to the 9500ci as well as DIYers who are interested in maximizing your installation success.

The video is quite detailed and has a fairly long running-time, but if you are interested in learning about a high-end installation, this video is highly recommended.

I hope you guys find it helpful and informative!

What I find AMAZING is the price differences that these installers charge. It cost Staton $150 to have his professionally installed while it cost The Veil Guy over $1,000. WHY?

Mine cost $500, but we cut into and installed a whole new grill. I felt it was reasonable for all that the install entailed.

    Steve,

Actually my installation cost was about $1500 (including installer supplied parts), but it was for several models, not just one, so I would, at least divide that number by almost two to get a per unit estimate.

I knew these guys were going to be "expensive." but I believe they were worth it.

I would expect that there will be some larger "national-chain" type retailer that may be much more price competitive, but also may not take the time or have the intimate knowledge of your high-line vehicle.

Although this video did not show it (another one will), Jeff spent several hours just custom fabricating one BMW interior piece to house a control module. Not only did it take time, by a very careful and skillful hand.

I certainly wouldn't to drop that kind of change in, say, my wife's Honda Civic, but I in a vehicle that retails around $70K (or higher), I suspect owners will (and do as they are busy!)

Would I have liked to have paid less, sure? But in the end, I am very happy with the look of their install as it looks like it came out of the factory and not simply slapped on.

That's what I wanted for my 5 series.

    O2,

Thanks, dude. As you can probably guess, this video took a tremendous amount of time to produce/edit (I've got a newfound respect for film editors!) and between all the recent traveling I have been doing and the need to purchase some higher-end computer processing equipment to handle the production that's why it took nearly two months to finally publish!

With feedback like yours, though, I believe it was worth it! Thanks. I hope it didn't seem to run too long. I tend to be detail oriented (what can I tell ya, I am an engineer at my core), and I wanted to give the awesome 9500ci the attention and respect it fully deserves.

We've got a bunch more videos coming, including some realworld performance videos (some made with Happya$$) from the Memorial Day weekend that I hope you will really like.

    focalcivic,

Perhaps its something related to your connection as I am fine from this end.

Perhaps uninstalling and reinstalling the latest flash player may help...

I have created a YouTube version, broken into four discreet segments.

For those who have the bandwidth, this video can be played in high-quality in full-stereo!

YouTube: Veil Guy's 9500ci Professional Install Guide - Standard Quality

Hope either of those versions work for you.

    Regards,

Just to be a tad nosey, did you pay for the 9500ci or did Escort provide it to you.

Also, I think the rear head might be upside down. I am pretty sure Escort designed the rear head to clear the state name on the plate and by reversing it should just do that.
