    Default watch your speed

    All Illinois drivers or those visiting there.

    Illinoiswill begin using photo radar in freeway work zones starting in July.
    Beginning in July the State of Illinois will use speed cameras in areas designated as "Work Zones" on major freeways. Anyone caught by these devices will be mailed a
    &nb sp;
    $375.00 ticket for the FIRST offense, but the SECOND offense will cost $ 1000.00 and comes with a 90-Day suspension.

    Drivers will also receive demerit points against their license , which allows insurance companies to raise their rates.

    This represents the harshest penalty structure yet for a city or state using PHOTO enforcements. The State will begin with TWO camera vans issuing tickets in work zones with speed limits lowered to 45 MPH.

    ;
    Photog raphs of both the Driver's face and License plate are taken.

    Pass this on to everyone you know.

    That thing was dated March 2005. Did they update it or something?

    This really belongs more in the 'News' section or the 'General section'...

    Granted this is your first post, you get a free pass from (my) harassment about that. Though it may be moved by an administrator/moderator.

    With that said:

    I really have to say I am not really opposed to strict enforcement of speed-limits by LEO's in an (active) construction-zone... that is fine by me!

    BUT putting cameras there so at 2:45AM some poor guy going "X-MPH" over is hammered with a ticket is a money making scheme: plain and simple. I like to see LEO's out in force protecting construction-workers in active sections.

    With that said, I also don't like when workers set-up 'Construction Zone signs' in a 10Mile stretch (on the highway), and literally are working on a .5Mile stretch at that time 6 or 7 miles down the road... yet there is an LEO in that first mile stopping you 4 miles before you even see the first worker.. thats not a safety issue... thats a money gaining scheme.

    LOL I didn't even click on the link to see that. (Though my above post about the safety issue and such still stands.)
