Help with 9500ci Shifting

TSI - Thanks for the input. I will cover the laser output and see what happens. Regarding the placement, the origional intent was to place them in the upper grill but there was an obstruction preventing that. So that left the lower grill as the only option.

thestaton - I'll take some more pics tonight. The radar is mounted behind the center grill.

Update:

I finally got around to do some troubleshooting.

I taped over the laser sensor for the cruise control. Those of you that said the laser was active even when the cruise was not engaged were absoutely correct. Covering the sensor solved the laser and shifting false alerts.

But covering the sensor caused a "clean sensor" error which disabled the cruise altogether. I found out how to disable the laser when the cruise is engaged so at least the cruise will function, but as a standard cruise. Which is a condition I can live with. The only other thing is that the cruise dosen't display the speed that it is set on, which was nice but I can live without that as well.

I took it back the installer today and they made a removable cover for the sensor so I can reactivate the laser cruise if needed (a little nicer than duct tape). They also relocated the radar unit higher to hopefully improve the sensitivity.
