Well, look at the results and you be the judge. The RX65 equaled or bettered the X50 & 8500 in most of the tests.

X band: RX65 beat X50 by 39 feet. Only the V1 came out ahead.
K band: X50 beat RX65 but only by 13 feet.
Ka band: This is the weird one, where the old 8500 killed the X50, tying the V1. But the RX65 trailed the V1 & 8500 by only 13 feet.
POP: RX65 scored a consistent 9/10 score on the 67 ms Ka POP tests. This beat the X50, only the V1 did better.
Spectre: RX65 beat the Escorts in front Spectre test, but did worse in the rear Spectre test.

Of course, better is subjective, depending on the threats in your area. If your area uses only K band and not Ka, the X50 might be better for you. Also, for laser, the X50 is generally regarded to be more sensitive than the RX65. But if Ka is a threat, then the RX65 fared better.

It's interesting considering the common heritage of the two top-end Belscort detectors.

I wonder if one falses more or less than the other?

Nice review...before the test I always put the 8500 X50 and the V1 above the RX65 and original 8500...but after looking at these results I put them all in the same boat. I would put an original 8500,X50 and RX65 against a V1 anyday.

It's worth remembering that these devices, like radios and cellphones, will vary from unit to unit. If you had tons of time and money, you'd probably test a half a dozen or more and average the results. That's not a dig at GOL...I don't have the time or money, either!

That is a good statement....I myself am questioning how the original 8500 is better with Ka than the X50. And how the V1 picked up Ka pop here and at SML did not??? ....somethings weird

16ms POP is a ***** to detect. I would bet my life and families life on the honesty and legitimacy of our results. Can others say the same?
