9500ix Software update question

I got a 9500ix today with a build date of 3508. I went to escorts website and downloaded the latest camera location database and also latest firmware update. My question is by downloading the latest firmware update does this fix the audio ram-up issues I have read about, or will I have to send it to escort for a ramp-up fix like I did with my STI?

Check last four digits on serial # sticker.
Ex: 3508 would be week 35 of 2008.

When we say serial number, we are talking about the serial number on the unit (radar detector) , not the serial number on the box.

Looks like mine is 4608.
Is it a good idea to go ahead and update a brand new unit?

You might as well ... you won't break anything and there is no way to tell the software version of your detector.
