i just keep everything.![]()
Radar Kid, I have the Gx65
One thiing I disliked about speed reading, was when you get an alert, the speed showed up, and then in a few seconds, it would go into multiple bogy mode, to show what strength level you were getting hit with and type.
It seemed like speed reading was interfereing with getting the multible Bogy mode readout in a timely manner. Not sure if it worked that way on 9500
Question for you though, what was your 9500I lacking , other than arrows with the V1 that you now have?
Unless I'm mistaken, thats a feature that you can shut off on the 9500i. You could have it show your MPH while it was idle, and then during an alert it'd immediately show you the alert info INSTEAD OF THE MPH at the the time of the alert.
It was lacking on off axis I think, and perhaps a little rear detection, definately lacking in accurate ramp up (the V1 is perfect IMO)...but all in all it was VERY close to the same sensitivity of a V1. But the combo of higher sensitivity, better off axis detection, FRONT and REAR arrows, easy to read bogie counter, perfect ramp up, and the fact that I think AutoLearn and TrueLock is horrible and something that I'd never use again after seeing it lock out multiple LEO's in my testing made it a no brainer for me. The other "features" like MARKED LOCATION (horrible because its not road based), and AUTOVOLUME/AUTOMUTE settings were useless. I was so angry that ESCORT falsely boasted about how safe its TrueLock/AutoLearn features were and how great its other GPS features where (when they were useless in my opinion) that I was ready to jump ship anyway. Aside from the new "features" that the i and ix sported....as a general detector WITHOUT ANY GPS FUNCTIONS, I think it was great.Question for you though, what was your 9500I lacking , other than arrows with the V1 that you now have?
The only two things I miss are the blue display and obvious KA tone verse K. But thats not a big deal with my modded concealed display. You don't get half the info in a Escort/Bel smart cord that you do from a V1 concealed display.
So what was the Escort 9500i lacking IMHO?
Overall sensitivity
LASER Sensitivity
J-Out Notifications
Multiple personal mute settings (set the seconds to automute signals & control the automuted volume)
Rear Detection
Arrows!
Concealed Display option (hidden display with easy mute in reach, bogie counter, alert strength, and bands)
Off Axis Detection (important)
Accurate Ramp Up (perfectly linear as opposed to 1-2-7-10 like Escorts)
Easy to read Bogie Counter (large number, not tiny lines to count)
What is the V1 lacking that the 9500i or ix has?
Blue Display Option
Camera Database (Little to none around here, never heard of a ticket from them anyway)
USB Updates (PC only "boooo')
GPS functions (TrueLock/AutoLearn, mark locations, speed view/monitoring)
Voice Alerts (Became annoying after a month)
Headphone jack (Sorry, but I'll never plug an earpiece into my detector)
All of which (aside from USB updates even though they suck because it requires Windows and I'm all MAC) are/were useless to me. If you look at the two lists...to me the advantages that the V1 FAR outweighs the other list.
Overall I couldnt be happier with the V1.![]()

Now if you just had an extra concealed display.![]()
Radar Kid,
Thx for the info
I'm considering the V1, but I mainly use on a motorcycle or the real purpose for it and ear jack is kinda critical. In my truck the v1 would be fine, I mount on a tank bag on the bike and visual reads would not exist, just audibles, so 9500 would fit the bill better, but then again I need the ulimate sensitivity.
The gx is very nice functionality wise, and well built, its detection performance was alittle late to the party on more than one occasion. I've seen no testing with 9500, on sensitivity
Which is what I need
Thx for the info
