Default V1 owner just pulled the trigger on 9500ix

Just placed my order for a 9500ix. I'm going to miss the arrows and Bogey Counter on the V1. I won't miss the many false alerts in town that makes me turn my V1 off, and then I forget to turn on when on the highway.

As a rule, I don't speed in town or on my way to work at the Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Station in Lower Alloway Creek New Jersey. The LACPD loves giving tickets to the nuke workers. The only time I speed is on the highway, and even then I go with the flow of traffic, with at least someone in front of me.

My main reason for getting a 9500ix is the installation of red light cameras in New Jersey. I suppose speed cameras are next. My V1, replaced once, has served me well for 14 years, and may still use it on long trips if I miss the arrows. With the advent of red light and speed cameras, I won't miss the V1, at least in town driving.

I did the same thing about six weeks ago. Although I kept my V1 I mainly use the 9500ix and I can say without reservation I don't miss the arrows - thought I would, but I don't. Maybe I'm now a recovering Zombie

Was up on the Parkway today with the top down in the Sky enjoying a beautiful Spring day and I picked up the Ranger running 35.5 over the hill and around a curve. I got great range with the 9500ix. Slowed my ass down and missed getting a ticket.

Enjoy the 9500ix, it's a great detector as is the V1.

I have to admit I miss the arrows ... but that's it. Welcome to the 9500ix.

    AMEN to that!

A radar detector is something that you should be able to TRUST.

The bottom line is that you can't trust a v1 because you never know which alerts are true, and which alerts are false. A v1 is the poster product for the boy who cried wolf.

You'll be able to trust your 9500ix. Congratulations on upgrading

Never had the V1 but can honestly say that after only a week with the 9500ix I am not disappointed, you won't be either. It is a great RD.

    Enjoy!

The silence is nice. It was definitely a good idea to incorporate a GPS into a radar detector

The 9500ix is nice, but I hate it when I'm driving on I-75/85 in downtown Atlanta. There are a ton of red light cameras near the interstate. The 9500ix points these out (because they are so close) even though I'm traveling 90 mph.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. That is a nuisance. They could have made the 9500ix GPS just a tad smarter to recognize which direction you were going, like an overpass and perpendicular to the red light so you wouldnt get the warning.
