Question If Only The 9500ix Could Have These Choices

    Howdy All,

i was reading some posts here and got to thinking (dangerous I know!) about the different meter modes and then about how you can have your speed shown at the onset of an alert. If Escort could have a programming option that would allow users to perhaps choose time and different meter modes at onsets of alerts would be excellent.

For example, it could be set to show the frequency (spec mode) first, then go to either standard bar graph for one signal or to expert mode if there are more then one signal showing each signal as expert meter does now (2 Ka, 2 K, and 4 X). Then perhaps the ability to change expert mode and selecting which band would get the up to 4 or even it out to 3 for each.

Just some ideas I was thinking about while thinking about testing my 9500ix detector. As it stand now I am seriously considering keeping this unit or at least if I return this one ordering one from Escort and making my countermeasures family grow a little more.

I realize this may not happen but how cool would it be if they did? Very cool IMO!

I do wish that Escort would continue to develop the firmware for all models in the 9500 family i, ix and ci. Unfortunately, it appears all development has stopped. Very unfortunate.

Ace, the speed is shown first as that is a safety feature to let you know what your speed is when you receive the alert. Tire size and other factors can affect the accuracy of your speedometer and a lot of folks don't realize just how much they are going over the speed limit. Because this feature is designed for the driver's benefit I doubt Escort will change it showing up first.

Old Beltronics RDs 985,990,980... had that function, but unfortunately Bel decided to not include it in the current Vector series.I also miss that muted "chirp" tone.IMO,feature-wise,the current Vectors are INFERIOR to the old Vector series.

Probably a lot of people considering it's the default setting. I don't like it at all. I run my 9500ix in Speed Display (Pilot SPD) at all times so the SpeedAlert is redundant anyway.

I normally run with my tomtom.. so no need to have the speed display on the 9500i. I just find the speed display during alert distracting from the actual alert

Yea i use the speed alert but i have to say i am starting to find it annoying i just want to know what band it is rather than what my speed is for 2 or 3 seconds. It will definitely be changed next time i update the ix

Speed display mode: sheer entertainment value... at least it's doing something... as otherwise display doesn't do anything except show "auto (or city or highway)"... unless, of course, there is activity.

I'd like to see both the expert and the specific numeral displayed together somehow though.

Do I have this wrong? Is there a setting that shows speed when there is a threat? I don't remember and the setting, if there is such, wouldn't serve me.

The constant speed display option is good for a small few for different reasons. But the brief speed alert during a threat I love, the timing is perfect for when it first goes off I know the band, strength and my speed I could be clocked at.
