Question 9500i & CHP, New Radar?

This is for a friend of mine in his words...

"This past week my $500 Escort 9500i lit up at full tilt no early warning ... on 3 seperate occaisions. Each time it was the standard KA band that the CHP use around here. It was probly "instant on" or something similar. Normally it will give plenty of warning, but not these times.

The CHP was only 100-200 yards from me when it hit. Fortunately I was going the speed limit in my truck. Had I been on the bike I most likely woulda been had.

    Anyone know about this? "

This happens to me a lot. I assume it is instant-on but I have questioned my 9500ix's detection range ever since ive had it. The longest detection I have recieved is about 1 mile.

Yes, instant-on is not anything new, and what you're describing is textbook IO.

No you can't. He can lock you before the signal even passes your detector's filter, and also throw on a reckless driving ticket for you screeching down 20mph

I got drilled in this video by I/O at about 25 over and didn't get a ticket. The truth is that you'll never know why you didn't get pulled over, unless you interview the LEO.
