When people wonder why I have the GX-65 and not the 9500ix, the auto lockout was the reason. I didnt want anything to auto without me having control. Im glad I chose the manual route.

As for your testing with the gun.....I would suggest you find a nice spot in the bushes to hide the gun on the side of the road pointing down like a door radar. Then you can simulate a false source. I think the gun in the car is messing up some results by being too strong of a signal or something. Just a thought.

AutoLearn can be turned off, then the 9500ix would be manual.

X2, i would rather have the optional feature that i can use if i wish than not have that choice at all.

As for simulating the radar source outside the car i did this in a real scenario with the Wallgreens. IMO AutoLock isn't that sophisticated to know if its a door sensor at 200ft or in your car, the only thing it will affect IMO is the lock out radius. However if Escort is insistent it unlocks i will do everything in my power to find out how many times and in what scenario.

I'm trying a different location today, already got the location AutoLocked, now for 30+ passes.

Bad news, but also good news now that we know.

Sorry for the bad grammar/spelling with my IM with Escort, im a slow typer so this was tuff. I replaced the Representatives name with (Escort:) because this was just for informational purposes and not to debate the representative when he/she cant defend them selves. However "escort" did a very good job helping me, and didn't get into a locking LEO debate.

I'm a bit disappointed that the manual stated it unlocked signals when all its doing is not showing the spinning icon because the alert is not there. Works just like the old 9500I but with the ability to lock out on its own.
Escort should rectify this ASAP with a USB update, AutoLearn is useless to me (if not everyone) without the ability to unlearn.

I am extremely disappointed with Escort for not making this feature real and lying in righting about it. I'm good at looking at things in every way possible and the manuals wording doesn't leave this feature up for interpretation. Its just wrong.

Escort: From what you are telling me. The new doors have the same frequency as the old doors. If that is the case, the IX would not recognize a difference because there is no difference to detect.
Escort: If you see a cop in the same exact place with the same gun emitting the same frequency, tell the IX not to lock it out when it begins to automatically lock it out.

Escort: You can't unlock a frequency when it has just stored. Just drive away until the alert is no longer there and then turn back toward it. When you receive the alert then you can unlock it.

Yes it does blow, and not in a good way. I bet it was designed to do this but then they held off and never changed the manual. Its too blatant of a lie to be bait & switch IMO.
Whatever it’s called, ether they change the manual or change the software for a USB update.

Still love my IX, but that information is very disheartening to say the least. I certainly hope that Escort is reading this and makes the appropriate update to change this. It clearly states on Page 9 of the manual in BOLD letters that it will "...Unlearn signals to protect you from locking out real threats." If this is untrue then they should correct it. Thanks for the information, CJR238.

I'm not fully convinced just yet. That rep seemed very confused, giving three different answers to the same question. Try asking a different rep and see what answer(s) you get before taking what this guy said as gospel.
