Sorry for the bad grammar/spelling with my IM with Escort, im a slow typer so this was tuff. I replaced the Representatives name with (Escort:) because this was just for informational purposes and not to debate the representative when he/she cant defend them selves. However "escort" did a very good job helping me, and didn't get into a locking LEO debate.
I'm a bit disappointed that the manual stated it unlocked signals when all its doing is not showing the spinning icon because the alert is not there. Works just like the old 9500I but with the ability to lock out on its own.
Escort should rectify this ASAP with a USB update, AutoLearn is useless to me (if not everyone) without the ability to unlearn.
I am extremely disappointed with Escort for not making this feature real and lying in righting about it. I'm good at looking at things in every way possible and the manuals wording doesn't leave this feature up for interpretation. Its just wrong.
info: Welcome to Escort Inc.! An online representative will be with you shortly. You are number 1 in the queue. Your wait time will be approximately 0 and 21 seconds. Thank you for waiting.
info: You are now chatting with 'ESCORT'
Escort: Thank you for your interest in Escort! How may I help you today?
you: Hi, I have a 9500ix and was wondering how many passes after AutoLearn doesn't see the false alert does it unlock the signal?
Escort: 3 times.
you: So after the 3rd pass with no alert it will unlock it?
Escort: Sorry. I thought I saw lock not unlock.
Escort: It will not automatically unlock a signal.
you: O, but it states it in the owners manual?
Escort: It will lock out the false alert after receiving it three times.
you: yes but the manual states: NOTE: When AutoLearn is on, PASSPORT will also Unlearn signals to protect you from locking out real threats. If a particular signal is no longer present at a location that was previously locked out, PASSPORT will unlock that signal
Escort: Sorry. One time. If a locked out signal is not longer there the IX will unlock it after passing once.
you: I had a location that was locked out that got new auto doors and didn't get an alert 8-10 times. When the new door was installed I got the spinning icon that it was still locked. Should it of unlocked the signal?
Escort: If it's the same frequency signal as the locked out signal, the IX won't notice any difference.
you: I'm still a bit confused. Because the exact signal was gone, and it didn't unlock the signal.
Escort: You're saying that the original locked out frequency is different from the frequency admitting from the new doors?
you: it was the same, that's the odd part. It should of "Unlocked" it because it was the same.
Escort: If the two frequencies are the same, it should NOT unlock it.
you: When the manual states "If a particular signal is no longer present at a location that was previously locked out, PASSPORT will unlock that signal" its clear at least to me that its supposed to unlock the same signal.
you: What if a cop is running K band 24.150 radar at the same place 3 times in a row and he gets locked.
Escort: From what you are telling me. The new doors have the same frequency as the old doors. If that is the case, the IX would not recognize a difference because there is no difference to detect.
Escort: If you see a cop in the same exact place with the same gun emitting the same frequency, tell the IX not to lock it out when it begins to automatically lock it out.
you: I actually tried to unlock just after is said stored, and it remained locked.
Escort: You can't unlock a frequency when it has just stored. Just drive away until the alert is no longer there and then turn back toward it. When you receive the alert then you can unlock it.
you: that will work.
Escort: Yes.
you: It was confusing because of what the manual said.
Escort: I understand.
you: So basically AutoLearn works exactly like the 9500I, but it automatically adds lock outs.
Escort: That is correct.
you: you have been very helpful. thank you for your time.
Escort: You are very welcome. Is there anything else I can help you with?
you: just a note.
you: someone should change the manuals wording.
Escort: Thanks for the feedback. I will pass that along.
you: thank you, have a great day.
Escort: Thank you for your interest in Escort. Good-bye.
