yes i tried doing a hard reset which involved holding the 2 front buttons (Forgot what they were) and then powering it on, but no luck.

and to the comment that said i shouldnt have told them i got it from ebay, what do you think if i called escort again and didnt tell them i got it from ebay? are they going to ask for a receipt or something? because the first question she asked me is where i got it from.

    thanks for the replies guys.
that's easy say somebody gave you it for a bday gift you!!!!!!!! now they know you problly gave em the number on it they typed that in you could of just f'ed yourself just saying

nope id idnt give them my serial or anything, she just asked what was goin on, and i told her that it wasnt working and blah blah, then she asked where i got it and i said ebay and she said they dont service products bought from ebay and then we hung up.

i currently sent it out to the guy with 100 bucks and he says he'll send me out a new one.

Bought my 9500ix for $450 shipped on Amazon from an auth'd dealer (checked with escort). That seemed to be bout the cheapest I could find it.

First off did it have the serial number attached? Like others said you could of sent it in and said you got it as a gift. Now giving the guy an extra 100 bucks just defeated the purpose of trying to save money in the first place.

As others have said, don't ever buy an Escort off of Ebay. Some sellers say they are "authorized retailers" but it sounds like trouble to me. I bought an 8500 a few years ago off of ebay....it said, "Brand New in Box". The thing shows up, it's been opened, and he cut the serial number off of the unit. I wrote to him asking why, and he said he would not tell me why he cut the number off but that I could get a refund. Fine, i sent it back and did wind up getting a refund. I also notified Escort's general counsel about this and they went after him. Turns out he was selling units that were being pilfered from authorized retailers by employees.

^^ Great post. This is just one of the many reasons why Whistler has joined Beltronics and Escort in only servicing products which were bought from authorized dealers. There is quite a racket of grey market and black market RDs being sold as new which actually are refurbished, are defective, which have fake serial number stickers, which contain older product model electronics, et cetera. Why? Because its easy money for the unscrupulous people who perpetrate these types of fraud.
