8500 X50 Mount

Go! t tired of the mickey mouse suction cup setup on windshield.... didn't
matter whether it was high, low or in between, still looked like ****..... I
removed the suction cups from the escort 8500 x50 mount, took and rebent it
to suit, drilled 2 holes thru it, then match drilled 2 pilot holes in back
of mirror. Screwed it in (make sure you account for mirror not being
parallel to windshield !! ) and ran a 10.00 hard wire from escort up into
headliner, down windshield column at end and into fuse box and spliced the
fused hardwire into the 15 amp radio, so radar turns on and off with
ignition. Works great, is very simple to adjust or remove/replace and is at
about eye level......

Looks good!!
The one thing to keep in mind is over time with the added weight and the bouncing of the radar detector it may pull that mirror off the window.

Just something to keep an eye on.

that's nice! but i'm sure you know to take it off if you ever get pulled over. by law youre techinically not allowed to have things fishing off the rearview. i remember hanging my ipod remote control cable off the rearview so i could easily grab it and once a cop asked if that was my car as i was walkign to it and said that that was technically illegal and i should watch out for that

I'm thinking of doing this also... the almost flat windshield of the camaro is a PITA to mount on lol

Am I the only one that doesn't like the install?

It appears to stand out like a sore thumb. Good idea, but in the end I think the install sucked. Sorry mate, it does look clean though.
