Poll: Is the Extended 3 Yr Escort Warranty Worth It?

Can you long term Escort users vote and comment on whether it is worth paying $50 on top of the already steep price of the 9500ix for the 3 year warranty? You also get the subscription but I don't really care if I have that or not. My credit card doubles the standard warranty from 1 year to 2 years. I would guess that after baking in the sun for 2 years whatever was going to fail on the thing would fail by then?

Well, I can't vote because this is my first Escort device. But I sure hope it's worth it cause my 90 days ran out this week so I bought it today. I'd be pissed if it broke a week after the standard warranty. It was an investment so i figure better protect it. After $500, what's $60 more. Which brings me to my gripe of them charging you shipping for the adapter and usb cable I don't really care about.

My Bel 955 had a problem during the first year so I got it fixed and signed up for the extended warranty for $30. I haven't had to use it but the RDs been an awesome performer ever since it came back from service in spring 2008. My 8500 X50 isn't so great which I've had for less than a year but I don't think Belscort will honor the warranty as I got it from Best Buys auction site so I won't ask.

I say, like any warranty, they wouldn't offer it, if they didn't make money doing it. So, mathematically, any warranty you have to pay extra for is never worth it. That's my take.

My advanced intuition tells me that Escort has a $110 flat rate repair free for the RD??? If that is the case, I think I'll save the $50 as that is a sure thing, and risk $60 that it will not break during year 2 and year 3.

I vote No. if it doesn't die within 2 years, it probably won't die. They are very reliable.
