Question Keep 9500ix, or return for Redline?

I know this is tough as there is no definitive testing yet, mostly hype and educated guesses.

I have 8 days left on my 60 day test drive of the 9500ix. I already swapped my old 8500 for another "toy" so I would be detectorless for a bit if I were to return it and wait for a Redline test drive/pro testing.

I have been fairly happy with the 9500ix so far. I have this nagging feeling the Ka performance was a little better on the 8500 I used for 4+ years, but it could be my imagination.

Redlight and speed cams are popping up like weeds in SE Louisiana. 90% of the 4000-5000 miles a month I drive are on busy Interstates (I10 and 12 for the locals), with little done in rural areas.

Should I return the 9500ix and sit tight untill further testing of the Redline or just stick with the 9500?

    Any opinions appreciated!

two completely different products. If you want extreme sensitivity at the cost of EXTRA falses then Redline. If you want EXTREME silence at the cost of performance 9500IX

I'm kinda thinkin the same thing... but isn't it supposed to be a 30 day test drive? How did you get 60?

I should get my x50 back tomorrow, I'm gonna compare the 2. I might just return the ix and wait for the tests! I'm not sure it has the range of my s7 x50?!

I would just keep the 9500ix, you get the best of both worlds. Good performance and the ability to also have a quiet ride. The extra edge the RedLine has is like comparing to a V1 without arrows unless you need stealth.

It also sounds like the 9500ix fits your specific needs perfectly.

Recently ordered the 9500ix and waiting for delivery. Got radarroy's announcement about the Redline. Looks like a great detector, but it does not seem to have any GPS capabilities for red light and photo radar. Maybe that would have increased the price and weight, but I'm a bit surprised Escort did not include it. Also, can we expect to see Escort's sister company, Beltronics announce a detector similar to the Redline?

My bet is the RedLine is a test to see how well its received and at some point a RedLine-ix will be made once we beat it up a bit. IMO the RedLine was made to show they can make a dash mount unit that has better sensitivity than the V1.

Beltronics already has the RedLine=STi. Basically the RedLine is the STi.

It seems to me you answered it yourself here, keep the 9500ix. Cameras would be icing on the cake for me.

I have used both, I prefer the 9500ix for everyday driving. The silence has absolutely spoiled me. Redline is an "old school" detector on steroids. You obviously were interested in the GPS features of the 9500ix to purchase one in the first place. The Redline has none of these revolutionary GPS features, rather it has 2 key features: all-out radar detection, stealth to all RDDs.
