    Question IX phone coupler?

Can I use a phone coupler to extend the length of the direct wire?

    Thanks

Yes you can. Use only the minimal amount of wire required to minimize the voltage drop, don't use cheap quality phone wire, and make sure that the coupler and/or wire do not cause the pinouts to be reversed when using them.
