Guard on. Some day when I'm bored I'll turn it off and see if the V1 falses more than the Redline when crapras are around.

Ha! You would be surpised where Cobras will turn up. I've seen Cobras in Vettes, Escalades, and most recently a 2009 CTS-V (556 HP).

33.6 is a pretty good indication it's picking up a Cobra. Some of them cause
falses so strong it overrides Ka guard and any other filtering algorithm.

I work at a hospital, and it is funny to walk by the Dr's parking lot. There are a bunch of $50,000 cars with Cobras in them. I even saw a old Uniden in one of the Dr's cars. So far I have only seen one V1 and two 8500x50's. I should start a business at the hospital for the Dr's I could be a countermeasures consultant.

Thanks, that's good to know I though it odd I picked up a 33.9 Ka just tonight (might have been 33.6 Ka) and thought that was an odd Freq. On a 9500ix no less. This new 9500ix, since I carefully leveled it, is running great. I'm also a firm believer in the SPC Display now, I never used to bother. Almost as nice as having arrows, knowing what it is vs where it is. I'll be first in line when a RedlineIX hits the street. Well maybe 2nd in line

I had an interesting Cobra false tonight.

I had come up to a stoplight where there are K band falses. Both the V1 and Redline were alerting to the K. Then, the Redline threw a rather urgent Ka alert. I looked up at the display and it was in the 35.5 neighborhood. Since I was in Bedford and they have 35.5 guns, I thought maybe it was a LEO running I/O down the road. But the V1 never alerted. The alert ramped down and stopped, and the Redline resumed its K alert on the door openers.

At first I thought the Redline totally owned the V1 on a 35.5 Ka hit, but then I noticed the car in front of me had flashing red LEDs on the windshield. I told my wife, I bet it's a Cobra. When the light turned green, we both turned left and pulled into a fast-food joint. I parked, while the car with the Cobra went through the drive through. I stood outside waiting for him to get his food so I could get a closer peek at his RD when he drove by. It was dark so it was hard to tell but I could tell it had black suction cups, and this Cobra was aimed at the hood (instead of the sky). So that proves 2 things... 1) my V1 was correct in not alerting, and 2) Crapras can cause falses at 35.5 too.

In fact, I wonder if the Ka glitch reported by some on the Redline is related to a flawed Cobra filtering algorithm in the Redline.

Maybe tomorrow I'll turn Ka guard off on the V1 and see if the V1 picks up as many or more Cobras than the Redline does.

I had a LEO drive right by me (across the front) and have the 9500ix Alert 35.5 Ka and the V1 stay silent. So I don't know it's good thing the V1 stayed quiet or not. I would expect it to have at least J'd out.

I guarantee that the 9500ix was interfering with the V1. I've seen the same thing with the BEL 985 and GX-65. Interference will not necessarily cause a J alert. While following a LEO running 35.5 I was getting very poor range on my V1 compared to the GX-65. When I powered the GX-65 down the signal strength jumped way up on the V1 and it was holding the 35.5 signal much better. Unlike the Redline and STi, the 9500ix is not stealth.

Remember, not all driver's of nice cars are necessarily auto-enthusiasts, and not all auto-enthusiasts may be countermeasures enthusiasts (the same can be said the other way around, too).

Yeah, I've seen many BMWs and Mercedes and muscle cars with Cobras in them... yet I used to have my V1 in a Saturn.
