    Thumbs up 9500IX Repaired-Software & Antenna

Just received my IX back. The repair ticket stated the antenna was fixed and software was updated. I had the 1.1 firmware & latest wkly update when I sent it last wk. Range increased over 100% on 35.5 and K band is noticably stronger! I sent the unit back b/c it locked up a few times & went into full alert...it wouldn't even mute or power off (I had to unplug it). Range was never greater than 4/10 mile, regardless of conditions or band. I had reflashed the 1.1 firmware & hard reset a few times with no luck.
Tonight I encountered 3 Ka 35.5 traps (Phillies game = police traps!!) and my "worse" range was just over 8/10 of a mile on a less than straight road; consistent w/my V-1.
    Props to Doug the technician.
Does anyone know what the codes CS, CM, SW on the repair information report denote? Also, since I had firmware 1.1 what software update would Escort install? I did not opt for the TSR update.

They still flash the RD with the software even if it was the latest version, or you didn't want it changed and do some functionality tests and check for calibration. When my Bel was sent in last year for a problem, it came back performing as good or slightly better than when it was new.

When you return a RD for repair they will update the firmware to the latest version. It's as yet unreleased but is newer than 1.1. Try to install 1.1 from the downloads and it will tell you that you have a newer version. I'm sure it will be released soon.

Indeed 8/10 "worse" range is great. I drove 200+ miles today & my IX is performing better then when new. I must have been lucky w/the parts or tech or both. Perhaps there's more to the firmware Escort has been saying will be released soon for a while :-)

I posted a thread on a C/O ka band alert 3 miles away, that experience there took me for a loop.

The alert was given with heavy traffic, 3 curves that included two bridges, trees, buildings, most simple way to explain where I encountered the alert, if you would draw a backward S with two bridges and when you past the last curve it's a flat road for a few miles.

Get this the alert started before the first curve.
