Can I get a 9500ix With a Red Display?

Hi guys, I know everyone raves about the "trendy blue screen" on the 9500ix but I'd rather have it in red or amber to match my cars electronics. Is it possible to update the 9500 with the GPS capability or change the display on the 9500ix to red? For those with red or amber interior illumination, how much does it stand out? I want to get a 9500ix but if it's too obnoxious I might get a Beltronics GX65 with the red display Thanks for the help everyone.

The only way I know of to get a 9500ix with a red display is to buy a 9500i with a red display and send it in for an upgrade to a 9500ix, which I believe costs $139. Kind of expensive, but if a red display is that important to you, there is a way.

I bought a red 9500i off Ebay last month and sent it in to Escort for the upgrade to the 9500ix. It costs 129.95. You get all the lastest upgrades and a 3 year subscription too to the red light cameras.

If you bought warranty on 9500i it's cheaper and warranty transfers to 9500ix.

So if you did plan on $50.00 Database, USB Cable and 12V Adapater, Warranty etc. (i.e. works) the price difference in the total is like $30.00 to get a red display.

However you may not have the latest hardware with "USB Powered mode" if you go this Route.

Now since you no longer need 12V adapter I'm not sure how things add up.

Do a google search for Escort Radar forum and you should find the right place.

You may get lucky to get one of those if you turn one in for an upgrade or you may find that they never plan on doing the USB type power for upgrades. Do let me know if you have success!
