You'd think so... but that doesn't stop companies from doing it.

Even though it is off the same platform as the 9500ix, I would think it would have better detection under most circumstances due to the sensor being mounted outside the car.

We tested thestaton's 9500ci mounted in his grille against happya$$'s 9500ci mounted on his visor at GoL 2008 and happya$$'s beat thestaton's by a little bit. Most windshields do not attenuate the radar signal by a significant amount.

The Qi45's radar detection performance is very similar to the 9500ix, 9500i, and X50.

Some seem to miss the point of the Qi45. It is an excellent performing affordable installed system, both to purchase and to have installed.

....and I'm sure that will be a nice selling point to the non-RD-fan out there, but that's not what we want around here. We're RD hobbyists. We want performance. We want:

    Remote - A 9500ci, without the shifters that doesn't get PWN3D by Q/T

Dashmount - A 9500ix, with an M3 antenna instead of the played out M4, that doesn't get PWN3D by Q/T.

I thought we already had this

It was called the Escort SR7?

You will have a hard time convincing me that with how long the SR7 has been around and the tens (or hundreds) of thousands you spent into R&D on the Qi45 (new boxes, new manuals, new interface etc), that you couldn't have lowered the price on the SR7 to the Qi45 level (or better yet... even less).

As for the install of it: How much less are installer cards going to cost for it to be installed by a certified installer... hopefully a lot less? I say this because again, the price on the SR7 should have been reduced well below the Qi-45 price with the savings on R&D...

For those of us who install it by ourselves, it is a moot point, because it won't take but a 1/2hr longer for the front and rear laser receivers to be installed, and personally (even though laser reception is near-useless) I would much rather have the front and rear laser-receivers only on the SR7, as they can be optimally placed for the off-chance of scatter.

To me it is just more of the same... sorry.

I mean furthermore, now that you guys have spectre-invisibility a remote RD without it is a moot point...

A well-hidden hard-wire display on a dash-mount unit (up high in all-dark) would be nearly just as effective, AND you could take it car to car... since the remote cannot, it limits your options... just my $.02 there?

Is this why you guys don't make a full remote-display (like VR) for the dash-mount as an ACC. option, so people will still buy (none-spectre) remote mounts?

Not going-at-you (as these aren't your choices), but some answers would be nice if you could get them from those who get to make these choices.

As DJ said.. I am sure it will be a great selling point, for the majority of brilliant individuals who you guys sell to.

I would just have rather like the see the SR7 at the ~$350 selling price-point, then a SR7, err-um Qi-45 at the $500 PP.

It basically only becomes worth the cost if you've got a V1 for the detection and want toe Qi45 for the spec mode feature, but wait you can do that just the same with $150 8500 refurb, just place it well, and the S7 will do better against I/O anyways.

The real hope was this was going to be an evolution to the STi-R but it's not, it's marketing hype because they figured out how to use phone cords the same way V1 does. What we want is the stealth M3 platform, that can beat the V1 in the critical Ka detection points, and provide us the radar freq. GPS I'm sure would be a nice selling point, but aside from just another display of how fast I'm going, I want all my alerts so I'd likely just end up leaving it shut off if even connected.

I'm actually not that surprised since I am assuming the higher you mount your radar detector, the better radar reception you will get.
