Default 9500ci save?!? Worth it's weight in gold...

I was heading to work today when a mini cooper S decided he wanted to test the limits of my V8 S4... needless to say we were going full speed right past a state trooper. I had 15-20 car lengths on the mini, my 9500ci picked up the laser right on time, I kept going knowing I was screwed; the trooper pulled out and picked up the mini, even though I was the lead car and he got me first. It's a good feeling knowing a significant purchase actually works. Anyways just thought I'd share. Phew...

I'd assume so, but it wasn't like we were the only ones on the road, it was fairly moderate traffic. We weren't balls to the wall but doing 90 in a 55 on a parkway. Plus my exhaust is gnarly. One of a kind on an 04 S4...

    racing 90mph in traffic.....smart.
When an average person wants to change lanes they glance in the mirror to check distance because they assume you are not moving that much faster than traffic. When you are doing 90mph in traffic you are going to cause a serious wreck, probably won't be you losing control but the person who starts to change lanes, then sees how fast you're going and tries to swerve back in their lane.......etc

I'm going to guess he is in NJ since he said "Parkway". Doing 90 on the parkway is nothing out of the ordinary since 90% of the traffic is doing 80+. If he is not in NJ then well he can defend himself

He's from CT, where 75-80 is normal on the 2 lane parkway...I'm going with fail on this one.

Also, the 9500 didn't save you, it's the fact that the mini stopped for the LEO. Definitely want to watch out a little more around here.

I wouldn't count this as a save, more like luck.

As others have stated, you were not saved. The only thing you have to thank is Mini, for making the Cooper S slower than your Audi -- and the police, for not having two units out there working traffic. Had you been the tail car, or had their been two officers, you would have been fried.

You need to do some more reading on this forum. First, laser saves by detectors are few and far between. Further, the only detector that will pick up laser 90% + percent of the time is the Valentine One. The jammers that come with the 9500ci are basically worthless, so don't expect saves from them. This information could have changed, but last I checked this was the case. Even when your detector alerts to laser, it is only a notification that your speed is being measured. When you hear it, its too late -- much like instant on radar when you are the target. If you had read some on the forums, you would know this.

Second, you really need to consider your behavior behind the wheel. This forum, its members, and the countermeasures we discuss here all exist for one reason -- to SAFELY travel at speeds above the PSL which is often not reflective of actual possible safe speed of travel and exists to generate revenue, not ensure public safety.

However, racing in traffic on the bypass, "parkway", or any other public road with traffic is not safe. You could wipe out an entire family simply because you didn't have the throttle discipline when a Mini Cooper S (as if you needed to race this thing anyway to determine the winner) challeneged you. Exactly like someone above me said, a casual driver WILL switch lanes in front of you and something bad could happen. If it does, there will be witnesses, and the legal system will hang you.

You have a nice car, nice electronics, etc. You're either in debt up to your eyeballs, or have had some career success. Either way, you should know better.

    Just my .02

He stated that he put 15-20 cars on the mini at 90mph, I doubt traffic was at 75mph.
