Refurb 8500 S7 fail?

My roommate's 8500 S7 bought from the Escort eBay store seems to be having problems with Ka. The symptoms he said were that it would alert to Ka when you were right in the proximity of the LEO. So I confirmed it by running my RX65 together with the 8500 against my local LEO's Ka 35.5, and the 8500 would not even alert while the RX65 was at full alert. Next run I did was just with the 8500 by itself to negate LO emissions disturbance, and found the same Ka 35.5 LEO. The 8500 only had one bar of Ka signal when I was facing the LEO. I know the S7 RDs have reliability problems, but it was just refurbished by Escort. What do you think is wrong?

Had the same problem...Sent to Escort 3 times in 4 months. Finally I just paid the extra $50 to get a 8500x50 refurb instead. Just seems like they have a lot of trouble with the 8500s because they are older and parts are not available to really refurb them...Shoot Larry(EscortRadar) on this forum a PM and he will take care of you.
