8500 problems

My 8500i keeps bouncing off its windshield mount and I cant get it to stop. It wont lock in place and everytime i hit a bump it crashes off. Anyone have a similar problem and fix?

Is it coming off the mount, or is the mount coming off of the windshield or both? Will the mount stay in the detector if you put them both in your hands and (gently) pull without pressing the button?

hold the button while sliding, and lock the top back part against the windshield so it doesnt bounce around

You may have worn out the locking mechanism at the top of the detector. It's just a cheap plastic piece. You can take it apart by removing the 3 screws on the bottom to check ... just be careful not to over tighten the screws when you put it back together.

The windshield mount is fine it just slides of it when I hit a bump. I can actually pull it straight off the mount with little or no effort

You do realize that there is a button on top of the 8500 that you must push to properly lock it onto and release it from the mount, right?
