Default Autolearn base line DB concern

    Hello Larry,

Would you advise against my taking a 9500ix and turning the volume down or plugging in a dummy connector to the earpiece and then placing this in my wife's car (she hates RDs). I know here I am a RD geek and she hates them, anyways they make her nervous and she says she could live with out them. I would put the RD on Autolearn and let her drive all over town to build a Truelock DB of Tucson and the surrounding areas. I was thinking of hiding it somewhere in the car like maybe on a coat hanger or something that would allow me to disguise the presense of a $500 device

So long as the variances are not too great this file could be used as a baseline for new subscribers and their use of Autolearn/Auto-unlearn could correct the discrepancies.

I am guessing that your greatest concerns is that one of the stored filter sites could emulate a locked out LEO false.

I am building 2 different baselines for my area . It is too bad that I could not see the data as it was created so to compare an autolearn with that of a RD DB that was created using the manual method.

I really hope that soon, either Escort or Cheetah will allow us to manipulate data in the screen and then inject it into the GPS device so we can input things like the beginning of safety zones (the "right" of a state to as much as double the given fines for the same action based only on GPS coordinates). I would really love to see those on a map. Another way I use personal data is to indicate "Speed Checked by Aircraft'' areas. There are mainly of those areas hear out west because of the cost of patrolling some of the remote areas is probably greater.

Is the "ramp-up" different between a 9500i and 9500ix, (better, more refined)?

What is the closest distance recommended between a compass mirror and a GPS based RD? How about a PND? I noticed that my 9500i and the Garmin 265wt were close together last night and I was wondering if that would affect the RAMP-UP as it seemed short last night but we were having bad weather too.

What is the closest I can run 2 9500 detectors together in one car? (If at all?)

    Thanks in advance!!!!

Only question out of those bunch I can really answer is about the wife's car:

Personally I would not hide one in there. I would want to at least have visual confirmation. If she passes a cop at the same spot each day and that gets auto learned you might end up getting owned.

I do not recommend sharing user created location files. Autolearn will eventually overcome the detection variances between the detectors but this defeats the purpose of sharing the file to begin with.

A locked out LEO's signal will in all likelihood broadcast past the lockout area and cause an alert even if this were to happen. I just prefer to have good data in my database so I do not recommend sharing the user created location files

Verified location data is very valuable. Do not get your hopes up of ever being able to view our locations as a whole or in any large scale, only locally as is done with our Defender Blackberry app

I think they are the same now. The 9500i's ramp-up was changed with a previous software update. I am unaware of any upcoming changes to the ramp-up in either of these models

You will notice odd behavior if the GPS antennas interfere with each other. Turning on the speed display is a good way to check the real-time GPS function of our detectors. The backlit LCD screens of PNDs and some cellphones can cause laser falsing in our detectors when they are close to each other. Radar detection should not be effected by electrical interference of GPS devices. Humidity and precipitation greatly effects radar

Do not operate the 9500i and 9500ix in the same vehicle. They will interfere with each other.

    Thanks in advance!!!!

    You're welcome
