Default 9500iX Rocks... Opps maybe premature

So I took a long road trip today from Pittsburgh to Mansfield OH... all interstate. No PA Troopers but during the 6+ hours there and back again I passed no less than 5 OSP.

Not one peep from the 9500iX. Went by Lodi station and got on little weak X band beep and then nothing.

Is it possible that NO Troopers in OH were on radar?

A lot of Ohio state troopers use I/O or usually do not turn their radar on until they are stopped. Do not loose hope!

A suggestion is try testing it with a mobile speed radar trailer and test the range on it. If you get good range, your detector is performing well.

Another thing is they might be using laser.

EDIT: Most state troopers for sure use either Lidar, I/O, or sometimes VASCAR. Be on alert

You are correct fellow Cheesehead (Green Bay native here) One of my childhood friends has been with the WSP since '79, I should ring him up one of these days What you've stated can be said of just about anywhere, I see it all the time here in SD.

Its just the way it is. Get a new RD and not only will you stop seeing LEO's, the ones you do see aren't running anything.

This is why im holding off on my review of my 9500ci for a bit. If I reviewed it now my 9500ix would seem too close in comparison, and I know it shouldn't be.

Ohio does use alot of I/O and laser, when I would drive though Ohio sometimes I would never get a alert even-though I passed 3 cops on the way. They also use alot of X band the last time I went to Columbus I got hit twice by X band.

    I have autoLearn turned on.

I have driven by the exact same X band door at the local shopping center for the past 3 days, 2X per day and the dang DR keeps going off every time.

So much for AutoLearn... More like NeverLearn

    What up wif dat

And I have noticed when I take the RD down off the window that it is very warm... bordering HOT.

Is that normal... do these units generate heat???

And no... the defrost is not on.

Yes, it is normal for detectors to feel warm or even hot in some situations. My recommendation is to turn autolearn off to save you a possible future headache. When you want to lock out a signal, press mute. When it says 'MUTED' press mute again. It will ask you if you want to lockout the signal, press mute again and the signal is stored. If you want to unlock, drive past the place and press mute, it will ask you to unlock. Press mute again.

Hmm.. Let's count how many times I said 'mute'.

    Best of luck

x2. AutoLearn can take quite a few passes to learn some falses. Depends on the scenario. If it takes too long i do it manually.
