So what is the best Escort Winshield Mount?

Just ordered the RedLine last week and debating if I should pick up any of the additional mounts (I picked up the visor clip). Is anyone happy with the big Single Cup Windshield mount? It looks nice except for the fact that the detector would sit so far back away from the windshield.

What is everyone's thoughts so far on these mounts?

Only negatiive I've read is the off axis pickup is lacking when using the Super Cup. That and setting it back into the cab too much. But hold power is very good if it's stuck on correctly.

I would stick with the "OEM" one and just get better, heavy-duty cups. That way, it won't lose off-axis...

I was one of the ones who received a "new" mount that Escort was testing out. Where the suction cups are already attached to the mount.

Not sure if they are selling this or not, but this is what I use for my Redline, and 8500 S7 (when I run it). I like it better than what comes with the RD's.

I don't think it works for those with really slope windshields.

I know a couple of people (myself included) had problems with those mounts detaching from the windshield. Not cool seeing your STi just hanging from the hardwire.

The quick release mounts some of us beta tested on this forum were crap, with less holding power than the original suction cups.

X2, the suction cups did not hold as well. But I think it did keep the RD from bouncing as much. If they fixed the suction cups then it would actually be a good mount. I have the Super Cup mount and it holds well and the RD doesn't bounce. I just don't like the looks of it.

I've never had any problems with mine. For me it has done a better job than the original mount that came with my 8500 S7.

I'll see how it does in the long run with the Redline.

The Super Cup mount definitely looks more stable (which is good when it's holding up a $500 device), but I just question whether I like it sitting that far back from the windshield (both for sensitivity and looks).
