Default Has anyone had this receiver problem?

I installed a 9500 remote unint in my Porsche.

The install, although very labor intensive (from a cosmetic standoint) came out great and the unit worked fine ... until:

    - after using it for 2 months I got an error message that read "check reciever wiring"

I checked the pulgs at both the main module and the mid-aspect of the wire of the front radar unit, but they were secure.

I was told I need to send the front radar reciever in for repair.

They will not send me an exchange for this part becuase it is not their policy.

I am not real happy about this because it is very labor intensive on a newer Porshe to remove and re-install this unti:

    - console
    - front bonet trim
    - bumper

    all need to be remmoved.

I the have to re-install these to drive the car and then go through this a third time when the unit comes back from repair.

At $1,000 for the 9500 and only 2 months of trouble free service - I am not impressed so far.

Hopefully a Escort dealer did the install for you, if so then its not a problem. Its there responsibility to take care of it. You should also give them the opportunity to diagnose the problem.

If it is anauthorized escort shop, I'm sure they will back their work. The antenna wiring could of got cut/severed somewhere, or chewed by a squirel like DJ's.

I have two receiver problems and and update on my Sti-R. Also had one display go bad. Bel fixed them all quite timely.

The problem may not be in the wiring, but rather in the unit itself. My wiring was fine both times.

The control unit is buried behind my dash and the wires snake through behind the stereo for the power and display modules.

I feel for you that you have to disassemble your Porsche but some of have done this multiple times. I have taken my car apart 8 times for this (I had to remove the unit, put the dash back together and do it all over again when the fixed unit comes back) and now I am now down to about 1 hour for full removal and putting the dash back together when it originally took me about 4 hours the first time.

Plus I have access to my Familys shop with a nice warm dry location with every tool one could wish for. Most probably are doing this in their garage or driveway so I consider myself a bit more fortunate than some others.

Plus you have a Porsche and a 9500ci, be happy about that

    Good Luck

I feel your pain. I had to send my receiver in for warranty after a failed firmware upgrade attempt. I only had the unit for a little over a month and I too have a very labor intensive install (08 BMW 750Li). I purchased my unit from an authorized discount dealer but had a high-end shop do the install. This is not a good situation if you have warranty issues! However unlike yours, my receiver was fairly accessible and I was comfortable pulling it out.

On the bright side, the turn around was very quick and the customer service is top-notch. Escort emailed me a 2nd day air UPS return label and then overnighted the part back to me at no charge, which was a nice touch. I was still down for almost two weeks (other issue involved) when it was all said and done which was very frustrating but it worked out in the end.
