Your Favorite BEL/Escort Detector + Factory Freaks

Name your favorite BEL/Escort Radar detector and why. Do any of you guys think you may have had a detector with a variance that made it more exceptional than others with the same model??? (In terms of range/filtering)

I formerly owned an 8500 regular edition and I am kicking myself in the arse for getting rid of it, I was pretty impressed with its performance, and limited number of falses.

The 8500 X50 is a good detector, while not achieving greatness in my opinion. But this post is about your favorite BEL. Tell us why the particular detector you chose is your favorite.

Well my post is going to be boaring but what the hell

I think my Bel985 is great, still have not switch to anything new, that alone says it all.

I'd agree! The 985 is pretty much an RX65 with much better laser detection.

Although I have heard from others here in florida getting improved Ka detection from their rx65, anyone that says that, I envy!

From my testing.. the variation is relatively small. I tested about 20 X50s with my friends, and overall, some would warn perhaps a slightly bit earlier (ie. half a second or a second), but not every time. Standard deviation aside perhaps 1 unit was SLIGHTLY better than the others. This was against K band fix radar.

I agree with Dave. I'd like to see Escort come out with a magnesium case RD with the switches and more industrial look of the Passport. Always thought it it worked well and looked cool.

BEL 980. It definitely was a factory freak. Excellent at instant-on! It would give true instant-on warning even though it was a weaker than normal signal. Almost as good as the V1 on Ka band. And it was just as good as V1 (1.7) on K band. It developed self cal service required message. BEL would have fixed it for free, but noooo, I had to go and trade it for a 985. The 985 has been pretty good, but not quite like the V1 POP2.

I think it just felt more solid and well built then today's models.....
