Default 8500 x50 laser detection problem

    Hi all,

2 months ago I got pulled for speeding and my RD didnt make a noise. I was wondering how can this happen, so I asked the officer if there was a possibility that he targetted the wrong car or something (just trying to figure out if it was laser or K band or KA - cause my K Band are disabled) ... and he said no he used a Laser gun and its damn accurate, then he showed it to me with my speed (126 in a 90 zone). Then I remembered my Rd would show LASER alert if pointed to my radio in the car (for unknown reason).. So after he gave me the citation, I tried it and no alert. I was like WTF ?? So I disconnected the unit, reconnected it, tried it and this time the alert fired.

Now, everytime I get in my car it's the first thing I try. 3 Out of 5 the laser is not working, even after repowering up the unit.

    Anyone experienced this?

As of now it's not much of a problem since I got my LI Dual but still, I would like it to work properly.

I bought my RD on ebay 1 year ago, and there is no serial number. Think I can do something?

Also, where can i post something about finding someone with a laser gun in my area so I can test my LI install?

    thanks everyone

The laser beam is to small for the X50 to pick up unless directly targeted. Wouldn't matter anyway, he would have your speed at the same time the RD alerted. Only jammers will help.

x2...only jammers will be able to save you from lidar. If you're lucky your radar detector will pick up laser scatter from cars ahead of you but never enough time to slow down and avoid a ticket especially at night.

Certainly makes the case for getting a good Jammer.

Not sure what good having laser detection on a radar detector really does --- except prepare you to pull over and get a ticket.....
