    Default 8500 Laser Falsing

I've got an 8500 non X50 that I bought 2 years ago off eBay that has performed flawlessly in the time I've owned it. It serves duty in the Honda Odyssey that my wife drives b/c she doesn't like a noisy detector. However, as of late it's giving off random laser falses. Now, I know, in the past I've run into that issue whenever I've been on my cell phone and driving with my v955. But we've never seen it with the Escort. Both are S7's though, so IDK. The wifey has an iPhone, if that makes a difference. But it doesn't seem to be limited to when she's on it and she's had the phone for a year, while this has only happened recently. I don't think I've tinkered with any settings on the phone lately. Perhaps some sort of software update Apple pushed? Just trying to rule everything out before blaming the detector. I've been in the car when the thing has falsed. It's typically one or two 5 second or so alerts.

Any similar experiences before I make the painful and horrible decision to upgrade her to a 9500??? Actually, I was also thinking of that new concealed version of the X50, as well...

I thought the majority of Escort laser falses were from electrical interference in the car itself not from devices in the car.

It could well be, I was just speculating on the phone as a cause based on past experience with my v955. But in that case, I had to be on the phone, holding it within a certain distance of the detector. Even then it didn't always cause a proble.

I spoke w/ customer support at Escort and they brought up interference as well. This makes sense as one or two times that I noticed it, it was during hard acceleration. They said if it's just started causing an issue, it could be a "burned out filter on the laser circuit?" His options were send it in for $79 or turn off laser. I think I'll just get a 9500 instead and use the trade-in program.
