Calling out any VIRGINIA Redline users

Simple request. I'd love for my fellow native Virginians (or anyone that's used a Redline in VA) to give testimony about their detectors. How are you guys liking it for use in VA?

This is not what you are looking for but I ran through VA during a 30-trial of the RL last Dec and thought it did well other than what might have been an I/O encounter.

I love the Redline, had it for 5 months now. Live in N. VA and work in DC. Also own V1 (3.826) and STi Driver. I mount it high next to rearview mirror behind Mfr. tint band. My windows are tinted as well which help make for a concealed setup. State and local police have pull up and stopped directly behind me and never notice the detector. As for performance, it performs like a champ. Depending on the terrain I may get 1/2 mile KA detection (LEO behind trees, angled 45 degrees) to 2 1/2 miles in open area. K band is not used that much but when I do encounter it the detection is more than sufficient. My X band is turned off and I do not worry about laser detection since I run with LaserInterceptor. I can't say if I've ever come across a LEO with a Spectre unit, then again I'm not looking to see if they have one mounted either. VA sometimes shoot from behind so I've learned to cautiously respond to instant on encounters so that I do not tip off the LEO that I'm running a radar detector.

I live in Prince William County and come across KA on a daily basis used by County Police. About 3-4 days during the week when I'm traveling up and down I-95 I encounter VSP running KA. Prince William County Park Police run K band which I encounter about once a week.

From some of the post I've read, I get the impression that a lot of users think VSP constantly run constant on. That is so far from the truth, although radar detectors are illegal I see a lot of instant on encounters. Those traveling through the state should know that VSP have some deadly instant on traps behind trees, angled 45 degrees or more greatly reducing your detection range. They also shoot you from the rear which imo is more deadly than any ambush except laser.

So for us VA drivers:

I would say that is about right. I was nailed a couple of years ago with instant on from the rear. I-85 N. near Dinwiddie, VA VSP was sitting on the on ramp shooting people from the rear as they go by. Because there were so many trees, he was completely hidden until you passed the exit and looked up in your rearview mirror. The only reason I didn't hit the brakes is because I was running my V1 and the rear arrow lit up. One of the deadliest encounters I've come across. He vehicle was angled in a way to reduce radar detection range. I think NJSP sometimes run similar encounters.

I'm hearing that instant on is less prevalent in VA... but can anyone confirm that this is true? What about encounters with laser in VA? I'm considering saving up for a M47 as well. Thanks.
