volume malfunction?

I have a Redline which I mount on my motorcycle. The first issue was upon start up this morning. I use earbuds to hear the RD in my helmet, and I noticed that nothing would happen as I pushed the volume button. Usually it will display the bar graph showing the volume level and increase as it is pushed, but nothing? (I should note, that I could hear the RL as I got alerts, but at what volume level I don't know.)

40 minutes later I stopped for gas and shut the bike off, when I restarted the bike the RL turned on normally, but then it told me "volume maximum" and began beeping. The only way I could stop the beeping (the beeping of an alert) was to pust the mute button on the smartcord. The RL buttons were useless, plugging and unplugging the power were ineffective too.

Once it was back to normal it seemed to function ok, with one further beeping incident over the course of 4 hours (which the mute button seemed to fix). Anyone have any experience like this?

send it in, I have a feeling that because it is on a bike and it's bumpy some solder joint or something came loose inside of the detector. Belscort detectors have been known to have bad solder joints.

this sounds like some sort of defect to me.

Thanks for the help. I'll call it in tomorrow. (Kind of a bummer. I bought it new 2 weeks ago, used it in my cars with no troubles. This was its first ride on the bike as well...)

X3... sticky button or a bad solder joint.

Are you using a Smartcord with its own LED and mute button? Check that button for proper function, as that mute button duplicates the function of the RL's mute button including the volume up/down function.
