Default Brand New 9500ix Lockout Automatcally During First Use

I did a software and data base update to my brand new 9500ix and also deleted all the user lockout/marked locations just to be safe. Autolearn is off.

I used the detecter for the first time and while i was at the traffic light i got a K band alert and 3 sec later i can see the spinning GPS icon.... ( i didnt press anything.. K band alert then GPS icon started spinning)

can anyone please tell me why is it lockout that signal by itself on my very first day that i was using the brand new detector. My autolearn was off too... what if it is a real LEO ...

    Thanks

Dont worry too much. Mines done it before too. Particularly if i drive nearby (like in a parking lot) a strong k band signal from an automatic door and my detector picks it up for a while. Its like it can tell its coming from an auto door or something.

Even if autolearn DID lock out the wrong frequency dont worry, the detector will automatically unlock it for you if the next few times you drive through there and it doesnt pick up the exact same frequency.

The auto learn is not suppose to be working since I turned it OFF.

and I was my first time using it and the detector is brand new and it shouldn't have anything stored in the detector. I shouldn't see any Spinning GPS icon for the first time use.

That's an odd one, but Escort doesn't specify exactly how many passes it takes to lock out. 1 could do it if it was low enough on the frequency range where the risk of a LEO using that frequency block is almost 0%.

A very logical feature, i would be it might alert to it on a different day.

However if Auto learn was off it shouldn't have locked out the signal. I have seen this once with an X band false i never locked out or was in the area before. Are you sure it was off?

Your not the only one mate. I have a brand new Sti-R+ and it has done this exact same thing once. It was brand new and hadn't had any locked out locations in it because I wanted to start fresh. Drove past a false for the fist time and it started spinning.
I also had to load the fixed camera database into it twice to make it work and it still doesn't alert me to all of them. Where as the fist unit (which was returned for another issue!) I had alerted me to things that didn't exist.

    They're very confused little gadgets.

Ah, my bad. I read fast and sometimes i miss words. Sorry.

That is an odd one. X2 on making sure it was really off. I guess turn it (autolearn) back on and drive through there a few times to see if it picks it back up or unlocks it after a few days (if it was indeed an LEO). Youll know if the signal in the area is still being locked out if the satellite icon spins.

If buggy code allows a signal to be locked out on the first pass, even with autolearn turned off, what makes you think that the automatic unlock is going to work correctly?

Its like lightning striking twice, very unlikely to mess up 2 times in the same place.

If i doubted an issue that happened one time i would have gotten rid of all my RD's a long time ago. My V1 actually completely missed an off axis real LEO 35.5 completely, but only once.

Are you sure the radar detector wasn't in Automatic Mode? If you're sitting at a stoplight, in auto mode, with GPS on... it'll automatically mute and show the spinny icon that a signal is present. Accelerate above 15 mph, and it will start alerting again...
