A POP alert does not mean that there is a real police presence, or use of a real POP radar gun.

Depending upon reflections/bounce, etc. just an ordinary K/Ka frequency can trigger the POP alert. POP alert is trying to detect those small/weak frequency that it is looking for. It can not tell the difference between a 67 ms frequency that is from a real POP radar gun or just another door sensor/crap detector that is reflecting/bounce in the form of a 67 ms burst.

It would be interesting to see on the frequency TECH display what the POP alert was picking up, obviously if you saw a POP alert combination with Ka, I would highly error on the side of better be safe than sorry, K band just sucks, it is so polluted, just like X band, thank goodness I just have to deal with one band K.

If an officer gave me a ticket, and I found out he had a POP radar gun, I would grill him in court so bad, there would be enough reasonable doubt regarding the operation of that radar gun that the judge would have to throw the case out.

My thoughts on POP, I just place it next to instant on, don't want to be up front by yourself, does not matter if you have a RD, it's too late if they instant on you, so whats the difference if your up front alone and speeding, and the LEO POPs you nothing, s hit happens. Have to drive reasonably smart. There are the circumstances that with a alert you can possible shave a few mph of your ticket, if you are alert enough to do so, and that could help in some form. And there is the facts that POP radar can be significantly off from the true mph, there by crucifying you with an undeserved penelty, but back to what I said above, if I found out I was given a ticket by a POP radar gun I would fight it in court and strongly believe I can have it thrown out.

POP is something to drink, not something to use on an X50

I also think POP is a giant headache, nothing but falses all the time on my X50 cuz of Cobras and one time my buddy's X50 mounted 5 inches away

When I used to use the x50 w/blue display, the POP falsing was terrible. I sent it in to BelEscort, and when it came back, it had less falses in POP mode. But I also noticed the x band detection was less. I let the roomate use it for now. He loves the blue display!

I sure would like to know what you know. I was in Virginia on 17 i think it was.. late at night oh around 0200 almost to the highway when I was hit with instant on Ka. The cop did a flip, i was pulled over he asked for my registration license and my radar detector. i told him sorry but i don't have a radar detector. He asked why did i slow from 68 to 60 and there was noway i could of made out his car. lets just say i drive a vehicle that can gain speed going down a hill pretty fast and it was on a downgrade right there at the time i was going to have to break anyways. So, thats what i told him i had to break to control going down the hill. he went back to his car and gave me a ticket for the full 68mph. I asked him by the way did you ever get a Lock on me because if you did i sure would like to see it. he said no I sure didn't get a lock. i have an attorney hired threw one of these legal association things I'm a member of but who know how well they work out. first time in 2 years i have had to use them.

As I understand it, POP readings can't be used to give you a ticket since it's duration is too short to be accurate, and that the lawman must immediately switch over to K or Ka (I assume the latter most likely) and lock on in order to get an accurate speed indication.
Just remember this "A cop will do whatever he wants if its legal or not"
Happya$$ has POP turnd off on the X50 and the V1 and so should you. Happya$$ would not have it any other way since Happya$$ says that one has a better chance of getting struct by lighting than getting nailed with POP
Well its funny you say that its thunder storming outside my house right now with all kinds of lightning. i think i will step outside for a few to prove a point.

My opinion of this Radar detector as of yet?
3 month 40,000 mile, 48 state road test
Regular radar its fine in some cases out west with pretty nothing around I kid you not it did pick up from about 10 miles. just the occasional beep at first. Keep in mind this was nothing around but maybe desert.

In traffic and in suburban areas i will lower my rating but still satisfactory.
80mph driver you are? look for something else to go along with this or just a new period.

    Laser
    POOR
I drive all around this country get hit with all types of radar and laser .
In Atlanta GA have had cops on the side of the I285 shooting laser and nothing out of this detector not even a chirp. more then once this has happened. officer outside of his car with the laser gun up in his face looking there that little scope or what ever you want to call it.

Same thing in Michigan, Laser , Nothing not even a chirp
If it wasn't for the CB instant ticket.
Altough it did pick up a laser out north west somewhere just don't remember what state it was.
Poor against laser if you ask me
    pretty good against standard radar
POP well if you read all of my post I think you have my opinion on that already.

Thing is, not once have I gotten any other radar alert along with the POP. One would think that if Johnny Law had just painted me with his POP gun (and yes, if he had, in most cases I would be going over the speed limit to one degree or another), he would switch over to KA, laser or SOMETHING so as to nail me proper.

Is there an issue with the X50 in terms of POP false alarms, or other kinds of emissions setting it off?

    Thanks...
I live in H-town to i ride with pop off on my X50 best way to go around here plus Johnny Law dont have pop around here where i live another plus
