Default The more I drive with my 9500ix, the more I like it.

I purchased my 9500ix last week to go along with the purchase of a new car. When it came down to buying a new detector it was between the Redline or the 9500ix. I ended up giving the 9500 a shot considering it had GPS, red light camera warning, speed sign warnings, etc... (Plus I like the blue lights on the radar detector with my orange dash and radio lights). For the first few days I was still wishy washy about needing extra features and was very close to sending it back for a straight no BS RD and buying the Redline. I was also not sure how I felt about the auto lock out feature. However, after having it lockout some X Bands and reading in the manual it will unlock a certain area if it is sensing no radar (portable speed signs) I felt a lot better about it. Granted I haven't been warned about speed cameras (not sure if these are even in MA) or red light cameras I am definitely happy with my purchase. So far it has been good for me and I am expecting that to continue down the road.

Also, just a background of my community/community. I like in a community with no commercial (all 1 family residential) and have a 2.2 mile commute to work through that town.

But since I found this forum, I'd still love to grab a Redline.

The 9500ix is by far one of the best well rounded RD's. Loved mine.

I bought my 9500ix when it first came on the market. 60,000 miles of experience with it and the ix continues to be my favorite detector.

X3. Around town my iX is so quiet it's scary. The RedLine on the open road is a beast. But the iX is no slouch either. I got a series of I/O Ka hits this morning in traffic on a freeway and didn't see the CHP motor officer until 2.5 miles later. I think I can live with that.

I have been driving with mine for about 3 months - in that time, I believe I have built up a great database of falses. Shoot, now when it goes off, there is almost always an LEO quickly spotted. I'm not sure I would want any detector that didnt have the features of the 9500ix. Even if it performed better, the falses would drive me bananas.

I sent mine back to try a V1, but if I don't like it for some reason, I'll pick up another IX. Great detector, but I'm mostly on the highway with nothing to set off falses. I like the really high gadget factor of it.

For local driving, I do not see how anyone could disagree with you. I live in a highly polluted RF area. Even my RedLine would drive me nuts. In my area when the iX sounds off it is 99.99% of the time the real McCoy.

My ix performed great when I had it. You can't beat the Redline on the Highway but you won't be getting any tickets with the IX either. As long as you drive smart that is.
