Seems like a very slow turn around time--a month

Tell you what worries me... since the M3's (Redlines notably) seem to have some "Service Required" message issues... are they going to do what they did with the S7... scrap it and go cheap & cr@ppy like we did with S7>M4 transition!?!

That would be a major bummer.

The turn around time is no reflection on the team at Escort. It generally takes 10 t 14 days (each way) for international postage. i was without my STI Driver for 7 weeks while it underwent its ramp up fix. You guys are lucky in the USA. Most states are RD friendly and your workshops for warranty or repair are relatively close. But this is the game, I don't make the rules but i enjoy playing, none the less. Thanks for your comment!

AirMoore, I hope not. I waited a while before I purchased my RL. Having used an STi Driver for a while, my next move was a toss between an RL or a V1. Given I live in the the last state in OZ which is poised to ban Rds, I chose a RL over a V1 because of the "stealth" issue. I believe (hope) the RL "Service Required" is unfortunately the few and far between, not the norm.

There have been a few Redline service required posts, but nowhere near the number from back in the 8500 and early X50 days. I don't see anything that worries me at this point.

Perhaps a better solution would be to simply never notify the user that something is wrong. That way their owners can be completely oblivious to their detectors getting progressively worse until — to their shock and horror — a Cobra beats them at GOL. Then Redline's can be just like V1's.

Service required messages are an awesome feature. As much as we hate and don't want to see them, it's better than running blind or crippled like who knows how many V1 users out there.

It's also pretty ballsy of Escort to include that feature on their detectors, because it can lead to a lot of criticism.

I'm curious how many units have done this - as a percentage of those shipped in the first 3 months..

I received mine in mid October - so far so good, though. It's even taken a few tumbles from windshield during severe heat and cold.

Totally agree... as you well know... my V1 above all others has failed me more times than one cares to count... and had I not been an enthusiast from this site, I very might well have gotten a ticket with its bucket of fail.

My whole point is: I don't want them over-doing the situation and making another more stable/cheaper platform like they have before... granted the problems before were exponentially more drastic... I don't want them taking the road they have already traveled which was a step-back in radar detection from S7>M4...

I received notification from Escort today that my Redline has been repaired and was shipped yesterday. It generally takes a week to ten days for shipments from the US to arrive at my door. Will advise this forum, once it arrives, the nature of the repair, as it is my understanding that repaired RDs are usually accompanied by a report.

I'll bet the report will say something like "soldered antenna connections"... at least that's what mine said when I got it serviced.

Wow, that's a long turnaround time. I suppose you could have bought a new one, then sent it back when your old one got fixed.

At least you have a good backup detector though.
