9500ix Or Redline ???

I had a buddy of mine getting ready to buy a IX until I told him about the Redline. Of course before all of this I was Hammering him to get the V1 but to no avail and now he is very happy with the Redline. The only way I would want the IX would be because of Speed Camera's. The RLC's do not bother or scare me but Speed Camera's are another thing. I'm also not a fan of the Truelock, I've have seen and read things about it and I'm not totally sold on it. In fact I would rather have my back-up X50 instead of the IX.

If you drive with one for a while its hard to use any other. I love my V1 and Redline, but there is nothing like driving with a 9500ix, its short comings and all. Closest thing made to being a cop detector.

Was driving in VA when i got my first speed trap alert, thought that was cool, slowed just before going around a bend and bam I/O from a local LEO. That encounter really proved to me how much better this RD is just by features alone.

Now that i have extensively used the Redline, V1, 8500, 9500i/ix they all are great and certainly fit a wide variety of needs. I have had countless saves from them all. But in the end how i used them is what make them work to the best of there ability.

You should know more about it then I do because I don't have one and you do. But from reading and watching Videos is just doesn't impress me for $500.

If the focus is every millisecond of sensitivity and nothing else its hard to appreciate the 9500ix. Its the filtering and active capability's that make the 9500ix great for some.

If things like this are impressive to you its great, if not there are better choices for the individual:

milkman, if false alerts do not bother you and you are not concerned about location based alerts then the 9500ix is not for you.

If you think you would enjoy only being alerted of threats then TrueLock will be something to try. I could not go back to using a X50, or a RedLine for that matter, TrueLock has me totally spoiled.

Ya, it totally has spoiled me too, the RedLine is excessively noisy in comparison. But it does have some crazy off axis sensitivity.

IMO the 9500ci, is the ultimate.

If I lived in L.A., New York, or Chicago then the IX might be more appealing but I'm in a rural area and not to many false alerts, so my V1 just suits me fine. This is why the Redline would suit me better than the IX.

the v1 detects from much farther distance in almost all cases and the arrows are a huge plus esp when driving at night.

id love to have the gps and autolearn functions of the IX but its not a necessity and not my main function for owning a radar detector. main function for me is alerting me as soon as possible.

the v1 does that much better than all the rest ive seen.

for about 600 bucks with all the accessories the 9500ix shouldnt lack in performance in comparison to the v1 but it most certainly does.

i still may keep it because i have a hard time parting with electronic gadgets.

Let me make this clear. I believe the IX is a good RD in certain parts of the country but where I live I prefer the V1 because of its range and arrows. I would prefer a V1 and Redline over an IX. I'm sure in certain parts of our world the V1 might get alittle annoying to some people.

How come everyone is saying the Valentine 1 has arrows pointing toward the radar source like it's not on the 9500ix?
They mean because of the dedicated red arrows instead of it being part of the blue display?

wait a minute....

my 9500ix absolutely positively HAD arrows pointing to the radar source when I first got it....but now that I think about it, I'm not sure I've noticed the arrows since I did my first firmware update? I remember when I first got it I was like a kid with a new toy and I specifically remember where I was and the display clearly showing the direction toward the radar source. I remember thinking to myself how cool it was.

I need to check again. But I know it had arrows pointing toward the source of ALL bands when I first got it.
I need to take it out and check it but I don't think I've seen them lately.

If they're gone, I'm telling you with no doubt that they were there when I first got it. Now I'm baffled.

If noone else has ever seen them, then I believe I had a unit that slipped out somehow maybe before an update that was supposed to eliminate them?

Call me crazy...but there WERE arrows on the extreme left side of the display. As soon as I encounter another radar source I'll report back. But now that I really think about it, i don't think I've seen them in a while.

The arrows on the 9500ix point to the location of the red light cameras and speed cameras, but the arrows do not point to the location of a radar source.

Thought about a long time before the post and was sure it wasnt sppdcam (there are none of those here) or RLC's.

But since it does have arrows for that, maybe it was my not understanding it.

I disagree on the owned part guys, the ONLY time you are owned is when driving by yourself without any traffic around you. This same town in IL runs laser traps over and over and when there are other cars you will always get a 12-15 second warning for laser targeting on the cars in front of you where poor aiming is taking place.

1st off you can pick out cars in traffic with laser very easy you got a lot to learn

only when visible, damn you can't be that slow. I have already had my 12 second warning by then.

No kidding since It's easy to lock Cars in groups but you wouldn't know that Noob me plus others who have shot lasers will tell you no Rd will save you from laser

NOOB here yes, not in life or driving. I have logged 50k plus miles every year since 92', I have had many whistlers, unidens, cobras, etc. I have fought tickets, winning some, losing some. For instance, if the laser shooter on the overpass does not sign your ticket it will be thrown out in court in some states as the shooter is required to issue the ticket.

I think we could learn from each other if we knock off all these silly assumptions.

twice in my life when out by myself with nothing in front of me to cause scatter. It is very seldom that I am alone out there with as many cars as there are today. If they shoot a visible car in front of me I will pick up the scatter.

I got a 3 mile warning from an on/off KA sitting in the median today. It was so far away I thought it was a false reading.
