Mounting your RD up high (which a lot of you seem to do) is probably the first place they'll look if that's where most people are mounting them.

I think you have not had a detector stolen because.......

a). You live in an area "less prone" to this type of occurrence
b). Statistically, it has not been your "turn" yet
    c). you've been lucky.
d). You have a police officer's paranoia and do other things to lessen your exposure to theft.
e). You are in good favor with the power in the sky

    (not necessarily in that order)

I hope noone comes back to their car and finds bad news, but i live in S. FL and at least here, I don't dare leave it in the car at all. Maybe the thugs here are just a lot smarter...Dunno.
By the way, i majored in criminal justice.
I agree with your list, but not that thieves aren't dumb.

Most of the areas i have lived my whole life fall into (less prone & you've been lucky) But i call it "affluent and well educated".

I allso live in Yonkers NY for 2 years with a big black Expedition with tinted windows.
My Truck Got broken into and tons of stuff was taken, US issue Vietnam flair gun, wallet, CD's, even tried to take my custom in car theater system. But didn't touch my 8500 mounted up high.

Car thieves are stupid, if they weren't they would be making money legitimately. Or even selling drugs, not breaking into cars.

It comes down to where you live and how stupidly desperate the young adults are.

Also tinted widows increase the chances your car will be broken into.

You should know that there are a LOT of kids from very affluent backgrounds that have been caught doing this...and shoplifting etc.

I almost agree with you. maybe I would be more accurate to say "NOT ALL" car thieves are stupid because there are certainly some who aren't bright.

Oh, and your in-car theater (????) probably saved your RD ...who wants an RD when there's a THEATER to be had?

Ya saying "NOT ALL" car thieves are stupid is better, but its the act that's usually stupid not always the individual. Though the act implies stupidity.

Ya I had about 8k of aftermarket stuff in that truck, 1500 watt audio system and 2 flip down flat screen TV's ect... What's funny is all they really got in the end was minor junk, and a few sentimental things. No big ticket items.
