    Default Extended Warranty Question

I am generally not a fan of Extended Warranties, just cash grabs IMO.

But, I'm re-thinking it here. Partly because it included 36 months of Database Updates. Which I suspect a guy will end up buying anyways?

I generally believe if you are going to have problems with electronics, it will happen in the first year while under warranty.

Any thoughts on the Escort Extended Warranty?

    Thanks

Detectors are subject to a lot of vibration and pretty serious heat in a lot of cases, so the operating conditions aren't like a lot of other electronics. Normally I never buy extended warranties, but I do with radar detectors since the warranties are pretty reasonably priced, and since I hear about folks on here having problems with them pretty frequently.

I wanted to buy an extended warranty....but I unknowingly bought mine from an un-authorized seller on ebay.

Escort says they will repair the unit should I have trouble for $59.95 so at least it won't become a $450 paperweight.

when it comes to detectors it is always a good idea to get a warranty, and like the OP said a bonus of the warranty is the upgrades as well

Thanks, I'll call Escort and see if they are open to me purchasing the warranty. I've only had the RD a couple of days?

I bought an extended warranty (Redline) from Escort after I purchased from Radarbusters. They did ask me where I purchased it from, but I didn't have to show proof.

Just a heads up. I believe they sometimes ask for proof before they sell an extended warranty.

Anyone know how the extended warranty situation works with a 9500ci or any other remote unit?

The heads are subject to a lot more abuse; if the warranty covers failure of these devices due to water ingress/rock chips, I really want to add one to my system. (at this point the lidar heads don't worry me as much as the radar horn)

We do not offer our ESP extended warranty on our remote installed systems. Check with your installer/dealer to see if they offer any.

The build quality is very good with our remote installed systems. My personal ZR4 system has seen almost 3 years of daily use and is not nicked up badly at all. The plastic casing is quite durable on all of the exposed modules.

    EscortRadar:

Do you think they will sell me an extended warranty, after the purchase? I've had the RD for a week..or so.

    Thanks
