    Default what is the difference?

Can someone please tell me the difference between the 9500i, 9500ix, 9500ci, and all other 9500 models that I may have forgotten to list? Or at least point me to the right thread that has all this info in an easy to read format... please.

Also, what is the difference between the red 8500 x50 and the blue 8500 x50? Is it just the display or is there something else also... and also the difference between a x50 model and an non x50 model.

I imagine that this info is here somewhere, but its not a stickied thread... so if someone can just tell me, or point me to a thread with this info, it would be greatly appreciated.

This was just a quick answer....

8500 x50 Red LED light difference with the Blue LED lights -
Straight up the only reason why the blue cost more to buy is because the blue LED lights cost more to make. other wise they are identical 100% of the way, now some people do feel that the Blue is easier on the eyes, but me personally I actually like the Red LED lights better

9500i - has an M4 Antenna and a gps feature but this GPS feature will only allow you to mark locations that you want to remember for later on, such as Red light cameras or high risk speed trap locations. It will not know automatically where the speed traps are or the Redlight cameras are, as well as it will not block out false alerts and you can't manually block out the alerts
9500ix - has an M4 antenna and a GPS feature with Truelock, which means this detector knows where redlight cameras and stationed speed cameras already are, as well as you can mark other locations into it manually and it has the Truelock feature which allows it to automatically block out false alerts
9500ci - has all the same features of the 9500 ix accept, comes with an m3 antenna, is invisible to all radar detector detectors (RDD) comes equiped with ZR3 laser shifters (3 heads) and is fully stealth, which means you can mount the radar antenna in your grill instead of having it sit up in your car windshield being visible for all to see.

Oh that's awesome! Thanks for the quick and informative answer.

I know the 9500's tell you the frequency of the radar. Do the 8500 variants tell the frequency as well? How about the 7500?

i am not 100% certain about the 7500s but the 8500s do for sure tell you the exact frequency number

The bolded part is NOT correct. The 9500i does allow you to block out signals you deem false. You press the mute once to silence the alarm. Press it again and it will ask you if you want to lock out the signal, and press once more to confim.

The only difference between the 9500i & the 9500ix is that the ix allows you to download the database of red light cameras.

Oh ok awesome. Also, the x50 has up to 50%more range than the normal 8500, both of which can display the frequency of the radar source.

The 7500 will not display the frequency.

The best one out of the bunch is the 9500ix (or the 8500 x50 according to SolidJake's tests) but I dont know which one I should get for my purposes.....

You may want to read these....

Also, maybe you can share a bit more about your driving locations, preferences and budget and you can get a suggestion for a radar detector.

    Thank you.

My budget is pretty low... $150 max
I drive anywhere from Lake George in upstate NY, through Albany NY, to Poughkeepsie NY, and all over New York City and western Long Island (Nassau County).
Most of the time I'm in Albany and Poughkeepsie area with some trips down to NYC/LI.
During the summer, my driving is about 80% highway... but for the past couple years its been more city vs highway. But I think the upcoming year will continue my summer's trend of driving on the highway most of the time... since I just got accepted to grad school and its in a different location than my undergrad. So I project the upcoming year will be about 70% highway and 30% city.
I mainly want a passport to gain frequency information of the radar source... I feel that it will be a handy feature for my videos and also for my own knowledge... this is becoming a growing hobby for me. Hahahaha. I just dont want it to interfere with my V1...... (not to sound like a jerk... so escort fans please dont hate me.. hey at least i will have both a passport and a V1 right?) :/

So, you already have a V1 and you will be driving 80% on the highway? You are looking to supplement the v1 with another radar detector that shows the frequency? I think I'd just stick with the v1 and be done.

Running the V1 and 9500ix together would compromise both radar detectors. Neither are particularly stealthy.

    Other options
9500ci remote mount (expensive), minimal interference between dash and remote
Bel Sti-r remote mount (discontinued but still available, but above your budget)
Redline Dash mount (V1 will intefere with it, but V1 will work OK---budget issue)
Bel Sti Driver Dash mount (V1 will intefere with it, but V1 will work OK---budget issue)

9500ix, or 8500X50 will compromise your V1 and your V1 will compromise these units. I wouldn't suggest.

Maybe you could try the Whistler pro78se with the V1. The Whistler is near stealth and close to your budget. I don't think anyone has tested this combo yet.

aaahhhhhhh, learn something new every day.

Don't know why I thought you wouldn't be able to mark something as False, I should have known better. Bad GreenRadar Bad
