    Default My Super Cup Recommendation...

I love the "Super Cup" idea and the way it sets the RD away from the windshield and out of the direct sunlight. But, the thing that I don't like about it is that it only has one suction cup. Why not make a super cup that has two large suction cups on it with the same principle it uses already. Why you ask? Well, when the Super Cup fails, it does not have another suction cup to rely on for the RD to dangle until you can give it some attention. So, what you wind up with is a RD that has fallen and probably bounced off the dash a few times until it finds its final resting place on the floor of your vehicle, where it probably bounced around down there a few times. I'm sure others in the forum can agree with me when I say I don't like seeing a $300-$500 RD take a fairly hard fall that could possibly damage the unit...

Is there any possibility of seeing a Super Cup with two suction cups on it rather than one? I would want to jump on that band wagon...

    These are just my thoughts.....

interesting idea. I would just rather see a stronger single cup. I would also rather not see my X50 dangling from its hardwire ever again.

Yea, I agree! Just imagine what it would be doing without that hardwire... bounce, bounce, crash, crash.... kaboom!

To me, the second cup just gives me that extra piece of mind. But, if you have two larger, higher quality cups... Bingo!

I do the same for now, but were I live (near Houston), I feel the RD gets to dangerous heat levels in just a few minutes while in use going down the road. I drive a Honda Civic as my work vehicle and the AC vents can not angle up high enough to hit the RD. So, in my simple mind (lol), if I could just get the RD out of direct sunlight with the confidence that it will not go bouncing to the floorboard.... That's all...

yea understand now here in NC i dont think it gets hot enough to kill mine driving down the road. but maybe you could fabricate something yourself it cant be to hard just get some small metal the same thickens as the one that it comes with then make another pice go across and put 1 big suction cup on each side. may be getto but it would work :P lol

That's not a bad idea. Possibly solder something to it that can take two cups. Hmmm... Might have to ponder on this.

But I would really like to see Escort offer the Super Cup in a two cup model for those of us who are more paranoid.

yea and you might have to weld insted of soldering. but i agree i would like to see something that you have been talking about. because the reason i dont use the supercup is for the reason that you stated...but i hope i helped by giving you the idea of fabricating something (: oooo WAIT have you seen the attachment that goes around your RVM idk if it keeps it out of the sun that much but it will NEVER fall.??

I love that idea about it hanging from the RVM. I would even be willing to pay the price it costs, but I do not have a cylindrical shaped stem. My main transportation to and from work is an 05 Honda Civic LX 4-door.
