I don't know how you tested it. But sometimes shooting it a close range can overload a radar detector where it would not react to the next radar source. If it did react to a second or less at times, I am assuming that you are turning the radar on for a very short period of time - .5 to 1 sec burst. Swamps RL detected a 67ms burst with no problems on Ka band. K band is much easier to detect. If truely your RL was detecting radar signals 3-5 seconds on K band, that is too long and there is something wrong with your unit.

I appreciate the help with my malfunctioning Redline.
It's easy to figure out, at least in my eyes, that I need to send it back to Escort and hope they fix it correctly this time...........or dump the piece of $h!t.
I know from some time before messing with the Redline and reading the forum that point blank range radar shots aren't a good way to test radar detector response time.
I'm supposing that many of you that have tested the Redline response times haven't ever had times when the Redline fell asleep and didn't alert for several seconds, similarly to what my Redline is doing???
My Redline does alert to some fairly quick QT shots (I have no idea the response time but I'd say .5 to a full second). I"ll give it some time inbetween shots and for the most part it does well and fairly consistently, and then out of the blue, it goes completely deaf for a couple of shots, again taking several seconds for it to decide that it's being hit with a radar signal.

Again, my biggest issue is that either this is how the Redline functions (and many of, if not all of you Redline owners are rolling the dice on many radar encounters and don't realize it) or Belscort techs don't know how to fix/test their equipment.

Overall I'm not as happy as I expected to be with my Redline. It doesn't beat my v1 by much if at all. I80 is loaded with drones and curves and it cant pick them up any better than the v1 (sometimes a half a mile for both). I don't think I'll sell it because its nice to have a back up and an option to use on my trips through VA. I just need to set up some testing so I can regain my confidence in my detectors. Specifically the Redline.

    Mmeteor,
your Redline is acting like my V1--asleep at the wheel some times, and wide awake others.

Seems like there were some early Redlines that had the same problem, but I have never seen any updates from the Redline owners who had problems in the past.

Swamp, did you ever send your V1 in for service?

During the most recent visit of my RedLine back to Escort (late May time frame), they updated the software. Never got an explanation of what was changed though.

Note to Swamp.........I've done a ton of response testing on the RedLine and it's never missed a shot over 1 full second as long as POP mode is turned off. I have seen huge delays of 2 seconds or more only when I intentionally overloaded the receiver with point blank shots.
