If that was the case i would agree, but its not in this case.

1- ether 34ford's unit is experiencing GPS lag due to solar flairs, weather or obstruction to the signal.
2- Or there is something wrong and needs to be sent in to be fixed. No software upgrade can fix this.

The last option is to upgrade & fix for a nominal fee relative to buying a new one.

At least he has some options.

34ford, is this a relatively new issue or has it been happening for a while? Have you tried a reset?
I didn't see any more reason to continue this thread since this was said.

You could upgrade it to a 9500ix. We changed this behavior on the 9500ix, it doesn't say GPS acquired when first powered on any longer.

Its obvious they know of a problem and fixed it with a update and I dont want to pay for it.

Now down the road I will buy another later model Escort.

Its not really a problem, its a personal preference. More people didn't want the GPS announced than ones that did. Like anything else features are added removed according to requests (sometimes).

Similar to the old 1mi marked location, people complained it was too big so they made it smaller. But now people are complaining its too small.

Maybe next time Escort will make everything user selectable.
