Default Dual antenna Escort / Bel radar detector

I searched, but maybe I didn't type in the key words correctly ... so if this has been brought up before (which I am sure it has), please direct me to the link.

Since the patent is about to run out on V1's design, should I be in any rush to buy a new Redline or Q1 detector right now? Should we expect to see something totally new and different from Escort in the very near future regarding dual antenna / directional arrows / bogey counters?

Also, just last week, I got popped with laser (not sure if the guy shooting called it in correctly to the cops waiting ahead / I picked up 7 KA sources approximately 2 miles before I got popped with laser ... and was at the posted speed limit ...but no way in arguing or defending against it). With regard to laser (I know I need a Blinder), how does Escort compare to the V1 (very good, even with the falsing from Infiniti vehicles, back of Chevy Trailblazers taillights, etc.) for its laser detection?

    Appreciate the help.

Doesn't matter...they are just ticket alerts anyways. I wish they would just stop adding these features to RDs and leave it to the jammers. (Guess folks just gotta have those features)

Seems to be a marketing ploy. If people understood that Lidar and Radar act differently then maybe laser detection isn't such a selling point in RD detectors. I agree, leave the Lidar detection to the Lidar Jammers!

I think a Belscort with directional capability is a no brainer.

But......they might not be the only ones with something new to offer once that patent expires. February 2011 is going to be very interesting.......who's gonna get your tax refund check?

I'm a V1 owner. Have been for at least 12 + years. Would you wait till February 2011 or make the jump now? I'm particularly interested in the Q1 with GPS / Navigation.

I'll guess the second generation of Redline will have the arrows or something.

That one may morph into a "GPS and radar unit" with dual-antennas like the single-antenna on the current combo unit offered - and also pin-point the radar location on the GPS map instead of arrows (or along with them for the now defunct V1 converts.).

The third will be "Trapster Active" radar and GPS combo. Any signal received as a threat automatically will be sent (or manually sent too) to Trapster and an immediate threat will be sent to all units and be shown on the GPS maps almost immediately, probably a high subscription service too.

Escort has already indicated another version of the iQ is due out in early 2011. Buying the current model might have you kicking yourself later in any case.

There is nothing out there now that would make me move from my current detector. The fireworks should be good early next year.........I say wait and see what happens, we're only four months away from the ball dropping on that patent.

A dream come true IMO...less the cost of course.

They'll probably make one, but it will probably a half finished product with poor I/O, detection, constant service required messages, bad suction cups, etc

Why do you guys think escort will get the patent? What if cobra or whistler jumps on the patent.
