Just purchased a 8500x50 Refurb direct from escort, Got old one with no TSR?

Guys I know a ton of people feel the S7 horn is way better than the newer M4, but I was really hoping for the TSR for traffic sensors?

I live in MN and we do have a few TSR's I think , but its hard to tell. I do get a ton more k band alerts with the new x50 vs my old 8500. Seems like they are longer than the half a sec, alert. They may be k band doors sensors, that never alerted with my old 8500.

My biggest question is should I see if I can get the newer verison or keep the one I have and feel lucky.

Is the TSR only for the quick bursts and will I really need it???

I am still under 30 days of purchace.

Just wanted to let everyone know I called escort today and they said all refurb 8500x50's will not have TSR , meaning they are selling the s7 horns for the refurbs.
For me , it's not a big deal as I have no traffic flow sensors using radar.
In Mn they use ATR's mostly. So I really have no need for day to day k band filtering(delay) .

But for others thinking you would get the same as you see on their website , you will not. Unless you purchase the new one.


The S7 horn is more sensitive anyway.

Why a x50 should just saved got a V1 I had x50 sold got a v1 cant ask for a better unit.

YES , When you purchase a refub 8500x50 you will get the S7 one. Thats all they sell refubs at this time.

One way to expensive and didnt think the V1 had the TSR, also I would go for the gps 9500i or xi before a v1 with out question. I would love to silence the false alerts.

You can get a returned V1 for $359 instead of $399 retail price so a V1 would be a little over $150 more than the 8500 X50 refurb. The V1 doesn't have TSR, but it has a very neat K band muting feature that can mute K band alerts to a volume level set by you so that you can see them without hearing them.

You have a great point. I will most likely do that. V1. The more I read the better it gets.

It really techie,customizable. That I like. At least with v1 you still get a visual on the k even though it's quiet. With tsr it just delays k band for the sec or so, if going by traffic flow sensors.

I think the arrows are the coolest thing too.
