    Default Redline boot up KA

So my Redline is starting to go nuts (go figure) just before I am about to take a rather large driving tour thru CA. I turn it on and it goes nuts on KA 35.4 until I shut the unit off and reboot it. Then it is fine. I know it is still somewhat working because I got a Forward Facing hit last nite from CHP which was a little closer than I would like, but it still did its job and gave me time. Im writing that one off as the semi's were blocking it....

I believe I read a few threads on people getting this with their CIs and such but couldnt find them, how did u fix it? Or should I just send it in because I am still under my 1 year?

Send it in. It's probably flaky solder joints in the antenna assembly.

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

I assume you only have one RD in the car? When I put the Whistler 3600 in the cab, my Redline would alert to full-strength Ka about every 4th power up. My 9500ix would also cause the RL to alert to Ka on power up..or the RL caused the ix to alert, it's been a year and a half so I'm not sure.

Yea, only 1 RD. It happens only after boot up, constant full alert 35.4. I shut off and reboot and it is fine. Actually, its sensitivity seems to be okay. I think I will send it in after my trip, and bring the RX65 as backup....

I run my RedLine with my CI & V1. The CI (and vice versa) can cause the RedLine/CI to alert during start up because of the inital calibration. If you are not running more than one its possible you are getting reflections back to the RedLine during its calibration causing this. Try having nothing in front of the RedLine at start up, like a garage.

Well, on that front, it has been at two very different places, (separated by 50 miles), and did this in two different cars (Civic and Mercedes), over two different days (Thursday and Friday). Also it would not stop until I shut the unit down. Once I shut it down and rebooted it seemed fine.

Both times they were outside, while driving, with nothing but a windshield in front of them.

My Redline has done that occasionally, even when running it by itself. The Ka false goes away after several seconds without having to power it down. Other than that, it works just fine.

Well this can happen at initial start up and last 7-10 seconds. However if there is nothing around to reflect it back and it doesn't go away after several seconds there is something probably wrong with it.

I only gave it maybe 5-7 seconds to clear, will monitor further to see if it persists longer than 7-10 seconds next time. But I may just plan on sending it in anyway to have it checked.
