Default K band sensitivity and response times? Redline vs. STiR Plus

    Hey there folks,

I've been running Redlines for the past year or so. I was previously running STi Drivers and the Redlines blow away the STi Drivers on K band sensitivity. My primary threat is C/O K band. Terrain is hilly twisty country roads with lots of radar absorbing vegetation! In late spring and early summer the vegetation makes for some short alerts! In the winter it's not as much of an issue.

I've been pretty happy with the Redlines sensitivity to C/O K band however I'm starting to get more concerned about QT and IO on K band. So now I'm starting to think about the STiR Plus.

How does the Redline compare to the STiR Plus in K band sensitivity? Are they the same or is the STiR Plus slightly better? I would mount the STiR Plus receivers in the same spot where the Redlines are now - high up on the windshield.

What about response times to K band? More specifically response times to K band QT and IO? Will the STiR Plus most likely respond to K band QT when the Redline would be silent?

If the STiR Plus has slightly better K band sensitivity, and if the STiR Plus has better K band QT responsiveness, then I'll consider swapping my Redlines for STiR Plusses.

For me it's all about K band performance.

    Thanks for the help!

Hmm...I guess another option would be to run (2) Redlines at the same time. One scanning only K Band (X, Ka, and TSR off) and the other scanning only Ka band (X, K, TSR off).

This would seem to give me killer K band performance (overall sensitivity and QT/IO responsiveness) and still cover Ka band (my #2 threat).

Not to mention adding a second Redline to each vehicle would be cheaper than upgrading to StiR Plusses!

That sounds like a good setup to me.

Another setup that might be even better then 2 redlines and cheaper. Would be have the redline with k band and ka off and rx65 with ka band in USA mode and k band off. tests reveal the rx65e in usa mode is like the stir+ with bs.

If you have the cash. I would get the STI R Plus. while some on the forum run with 2 detectors, you have to be careful about how you mount them so that you don't get interference. It can be done, ESP if you use the M3 platform and/or get a remote unit and a dash unit (they are further away). Just my 2 cents.... If you are going to spent more, get the best you can or wait for the Redline with BS to come out.

I need to be stealthy so the system has to be M3 based which means the rx65e is out.

Yesterday just for giggles I set up my Redline to scan K band only (X, Ka, LSR, TSR off) and man the responsiveness on K band went through the roof! I picked up falses that I didn't even know where there!

EscortTrader and others seem to think that running two M3 detectors together is no problem. If I did they'd be mounted about 18" from each other on the windshield (unless I ran a Redline on the windshield and a STiR+ in the bumper).

Does anyone have any idea if/when Belscort will be releasing a portable M3 detector with BS?
