Reported by whom? Someone who knows nothing about the Redline Laser detection circuitry.
Redline has the exact same laser detection circuitry as the shifter does with the exception that the STi/Redline has 4 IR photodiodes forward facing vs the shifter which has 3.
The IR detection sensitivity of the STi/Redline design is unchanged from the first days of STi production, back in 2005.

It could be a tuning/calibration/firmware thing. With my bad experiences with the Redline's laser and other's reporting it is amazing I imagine there are firmware differences. The V1.8 may use same internals but look how big a diff its firmware updates make. I am sure Escort does the same if they think a firmware update can bring better performance...especially given laser is a revolving process with newer guns with newer pulse rates.

I have a Redline, BUT if I was really worried about laser, I'd run a V1, hands down. even so, the chance of a save is highly overrated.

Both of the saves were from my eyes and not the Redline. If I want serious protection then it seems even an entry level laser jammer would be the ticket, no pun intended.

I am disappointed in the Redline silent during the 2 hits though. Maybe it was my black paint, wasn't shooting me, whatever.

You won't truly know until you go through a jamfest or have someone test it.

x2 The same happened to me. I finally gave up and turned back on.

I wouldn't be disappointed. Depending on an RD to protect you from laser is really a false sense of security anyway, it doesn't work. Get a good laser jammer setup and forget about it. Let the RD do what it does best, radar.

Only during the first few seconds after power on will the RedLine alert to laser with laser detection disabled.
