Default Escort 8500 x50 Black A Good Investment?

Hey i haven't been around in a while but I love the website and am back I had a V1 for a while and am now looking for a new RD. I loved the V1 but am looking to get a good detector on a small budget. I have been looking at the Escort 8500 x50 Black seems like a good detector at a great price. Im wondering what you all think i should get.

I have a Beltronics Express 795 that I could use for the trade in if i order direct from Escort. I read somewhere on here that Escort will take a Beltronics for an 80$ trade in which would bring the cost down considerably, and that would be great. Is this true that escort will take a beltronics for 80$ towards my new detector?

I drive a lot in CT and on Long Island if that makes any difference, do you think i should go for the 8500x50 Black or something else? Thanks in advance for the help and one last question should i buy from escort or radarbusters?

It is a good radar detector, the price isn't bad after trade-in. but, you could also probably find a beltronics vector series for $100 or so on craigslist. You basically get the same performance, they are all using the same hardware. There is a better lens on the x50 but I'm not sure its worth $200 if you can find a v955 or v995 for $100. Escort claims 40% improved performance, take that with a grain of salt.

Lax, I bought an X50 Black a couple of weeks ago. The detection range is stellar and it is extremely quiet around town. This device is clearly the value leader within Escort's crowded product line up. However, it's really only $100 less than a new V1. The V1 has undergone some recent tweaks that have increased its range.

Yes,the X50 Black is worth buying. K band has been improved with the biggest difference being KA band. Over the summer I have seen a drop in K band use where I live and a substantial increase of 35.5 KA which it does a fantastic job with. The ramp up is also better being more linear. I also agree with NoMore55

I disagree with getting "basically the same performance". That is not factual at all. Have you used and X50 Black? I have since it came out and have used the Vectors.

the x50 black is nothing other than a 8500 stepped up to 9500ix performance. soon we'll know if more has changed when the GOL or another group does definitive tests.

So,you don't have an X50B which means you don't know from usage. I have an IX and in my opinion the X50B detection is a little better, notably on KA band. The Vectors were and still are good detectors but their performance isn't as good. You probably don't have an IX either since you think they are all the same.

Guys, another point of reference: I sold a V940 recently and there is a wide performance difference between it and the X50 Black.

In terms of a pure value play, the X50 Black is the real...no grains of salt needed When Escort calls it a 40 per cent improvement, I think that's conservative.
